Hi Tatoforever! I have been reading about the "new" OS called Bada, from Samsung. In the United States, this OS hasn't got a big market, because it is owned by Iphones, Blackberries, Androids, etc, but in Europe and the rest of the world it had got a very huge growing. I have think If you have though to release the game in other platforms like Android, or this, Bada OS. Ah, buen trabajo!
That would only delay the release more, for not much of a profit increase. I say just concentrate on what you are doing. Oh if you are developing for Android, I wanted to know if you were doing anything special for the amazing GPU in the Galaxy S.
The problem with Android is the hardware fragmentation. We have few Androids devices here and its quite hellish how the game behave for each one of them. We decided just to focus right now in the iPhone 3G/3GS/4 version. Once the game will be finished, we will then look at others mobiles/consoles opportunities. There's no reason as you already stated out, to delay the release date. We are tackling one platform at time. Cheers,
Yes, We basically have 3 iPhone versions of each assets withing the same game: One for 3G, One for 3GS/4 So if you have an old iDevice, the graphically lower version will be loaded. The assets are exactly the same for 3GS/4 but if the game detects a 4, antialiasing and extra interface improvements are apply on top of that. We recently expanded our team to 10 members. Two of them are highly skilled 3D artists, they are doing a great job on the assets and to be honest the graphically lowered version looks almost identical as the 3GS/4 version (without shaders of course, they are only available on 3GS/4 versions). Also we bake almost any lighting data using the powerful Beast renderer, with very high (fragmented) lightmaps, including shadows, AO, normal direction, light clouds and other fancy tricks seen in Epic Citadel. We are using an in-house solution similar to Valve Radiosity Normal Map shader to make things looks great on mobile devices without a performance hit. Cheers,
So is this going to be strictly silent hillesque, meaning limited weapons and prominent use of hiding and running away? Or do we get an array of weapons? When can we be expected to see the game released AND any ideas of a price range? Thanks in advance.
Let me explain a bit more, There's a lot of gameplay horror stuff seen in classics horror titles as Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Plus new ways of interactions that give you a lot's more freedom and makes the game less linear. You'll collect a variety of weapons through the game and limited resources will be present all the time. Sometimes your best weapon will be "run tha h*ll out of here" or hide yourself. So don't spec to get a an M60 fully loaded with ammo or bazooka neither a grenade launcher it wont happen. lol Having such arsenal it wont be a survival horror anymore, it will be an action-shooter and that's not what we want. We are concentrating all our effort into something scary, make doubts about whats going on, make the player cry sometimes but our main goal is psychological fears and disturb the player emotionally.
Due to the nature of iPad it wont be universal. We will release an exclusive iPad version later once the iPhone version is out and for those luckier, we'll include extra stuff on it. So the wait will be worth.
Wow! As long as there is no light coming from the chest of the character, I'm pretty sure this game is going to be a perfect horror game for the iOS!
You wont see any invisible thing casting shadows or projecting lights. If you see a light/shadows it comes from a visible 3D object. Otherwise its a visual/level design bug. But don't worry about the old prototypes, they were mostly environment showcase, not gameplay (or even character showcase). On top of that, the environments got a major visual improvement, they are now prettier than before and fully polished. We should have some sort of showcase demo including final features of the game soon. Cheers,
Youtube description says "spring/summer 2010". It's already winter 2010. Any estimated date of release yet?
Hello, Youtube videos/info are old and outdated. Mid 2011(before summer 2011) it's our target release date. Cheers,
