I'm guessing it's going to be like the previous FF games they relreased and it will support the iPad natively

While very far from retina, I have had a much better time with the ios version of Chrono Trigger since ios 7.

Soo its a week latter and still has not been released on the New Zealand App store. I have my doubt about this game being released at all.

They probably delayed the release until the game breaking bug is fixed

Good point. That bug hasn't even been patched on android yet.

I personally wish they would release Final Fantasy VI even with the game breaking bug, that way I could get a start on it. [...but I know there's good reason to wait, in part because a fix could hose prior saves and anger many]

No one can say for sure if this bug is even persistent in the iOS version. Could be a OS related bug or something else. Who knows...

I hope it will get released this week.

The game was just patched for Android, fixing the crash issues and the spelling mistake, but egh... still no iOS version :( It's ridiculous that the Android version has been out for a week already and it's "no news, but soon" from SE.

Every mobile release from them is "soon," followed by a stealth drop when you've convinced yourself it was all a lie.

This might just highlight the silly and needless system Apple has for "reviews." App Store totally lacks credibility flooded with shovelware and scam apps but Apple parades around like there's some gatekeeping process to protect users (and not Apple's overly strict self serving digital rights management codes). The whole thing is really silly and a self-mockery. ; I like to think Square Enix is just doing what it can to subtly point out the absurdity of Apple's "review" process.

My theory it that they submitted the game on App Store together with the Android's update. If I'm right we have to wait for Apple's review.

I've convinced myself that the iOS is not getting shafted but Android in a way is. This is pure speculation but I think they released it on Android on purpose as a "beta test" since they weren't sure if there were any issues. However I'm not sure how similar the two game versions for each platform are so maybe I'm wrong. But if there's a game breaking bug then I suppose they are related afterall.

    ---

Btw, is FF6 supposed to be a dark game? The reason I complained about the art was because I thought it was a dark game. The bright character sprites and giant eyes make me think that the game is a happy adventure FF game. If that's so then I'll take back what I said. The bright backgrounds also seem to agree with the happy setting. I just had this idea for some reason that FF6 was a darker and mature FF but maybe I heard wrong since I haven't played it.

That the App Store has problems—it does—does not mean the review process is not working. It has far less problems than other established app stores. I do agree they should take extra steps to crack down on the prominent 'scammy' apps like the keyboards and chat apps that suggest they can extend iOS' features in areas that Apple does not allow apps to change.

I haven't played the remake yet, but looking at the sprites they don't seem to be far departed from the originals, at least in terms of composition. They do seem somewhat different in that they are smoother, and more detail is apparent in the body, but some of the complaints people are sharing don't seem valid.

For example, the eyes are smaller, not bigger. And the head remains the same size (still larger). Not that you would want the head to be properly proportioned to the body. That would look extremely strange. And I think people are also forgetting how 'low resolution' the graphics originally were. The old sprites would look very strange next to remastered monsters.

I can't say I love the new sprites, though. They do take on a slightly different 'feel'. Though I definitely don't dislike them, and I can't imagine them detracting from how much I'll enjoy the remake.

I wouldn't say Final Fantasy VI is entirely dark and it has whimsical elements that suggest the updates art might be appropriate. One of the bad guys is an evil jester, moogles, rainbow Terra, feral wildchilds, etc - it's practically psychadelic.

The character sprites look pretty good once they've been darkened a little.

BTW... If anyone else is gonna troll with fake links at least do something creative and relevant...

doesn't look good, imo. Shadow highlighting is messed up now and many details are gone.
