Figure it's time for another music thread in The Lounge! Anyone have music tastes they want to share? I've always been a metal/jazz fan myself
To make things easier No idea what "This Charmin Man" is thought. Some mislabeled artist, I guess. It's actually just a Gaslight Anthem song.
Hahaha nice! I'd probably do the same, but... Well... (Hope I did that right... Been quite awhile since I've logged onto TA)
Not terribly accurate because my main source of music doesn't submit tracks to last.fm, but nonetheless: http://www.last.fm/user/kitchenknives
Not going to lie. The fact that you've got Opeth on the list just made me have the utmost respect for you
That's... a decent bit of music there. I've only been listening to music seriously (you'll understand what I mean in a sec) for the past year and a half. 1) Cuz I'm young, and 2) I had to undergo a massive overhaul after listening to Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' False Pretense. Ugh, I still feel dirty. So yeah, my music collection isn't much yet.
Definitely understandable. I've been really deep into music since probably 6th grade, when one of my friends first gave me a metal album (Demon Hunter- Triptych, still one of my favorite albums EVER. If you like melodic metal, check it out) It pretty much replaced my other hobbies haha. And I'm proud of the R.J.A. overhaul hahaha (No offense to any Jumpsuit fans out there)
Not really into techno, but somehow Passion Pit's Sleepyhead(from the LBP 2 announcement trailer) just stuns me.
I always loved music, but it used to just be Green Day and Sum 41, after discovering Muse in...2006? I can't exactly remember I became an obsessive, though at the moment I have a particular dislike for them. These past 8 months I have gone from 15gb of music to 22gb, I have got into lots of alt rock, weirder rock, rap (not a lot of modern rap, for obvious reasons) and the like
Mine is probably similar to Kam, but eliminate the rap/most of the alt rock. I have too many to list but some of my faves/most played/most songs are: Kyuss Arctic Monkeys Misfits Strokes Black Sabbath Alice in Chains System of a Down Sublime (necessary for a Cali boy) Queens of the Stone Age Led Zeppelin Metallica Stone Temple Pilots Van Halen Nirvana Foo Fighters Fu Manchu Them Crooked Vultures The Dead Weather Jimi Hendrix Mastodon Megadeth and some good ol' fashioned Lamb of God. Quite an eclectic mix.
I'm a lot the same way, I've only been seriously listening to music for about a year now. I like pop/rock, alt-rock and am starting to like metal more and more. I'm still sort of discovering what I really like.
Word. I saw the Evolution XX concert at the Royal Albert Hall last month, right at the front so with any luck I'll be appearing on the DVD Paid £120 for VIP tickets too, got to meet all of the guys, best day ever
Hmm.. Music style: progressive / power / symphonic metal Bands: Stratovarius, Dream Theatre, Opeth, Angra, Therion, Epica, Ayreon (even though it's not a band : D), Blind Guardian, Celesty, Nightwish + a lot more
Killing Joke Frank Black/Black Francis The Fall Bob Mould Fishbone Sonic Youth Social Distortion Melvins ...and many, many, more.
I have an Opeth tattoo on my left arm. =D The simple fact that people know who they are warms my heart. There used to be a thread long ago where I named off all the bands I listen to. And since that took a while, I will pass that up this time around. But I listen to everything. Not one of those bullsh!t generic "I Listen To Everything" kind of everything, but I can literally find a band in every genre of music that I can at least tolerate. I prefer metal (In Flames, Opeth, Iced Earth, Parkway Drive, to name a slim few) and Punk (Old Anti-Flag, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, The Unseen to name a few) But like I said, I listen to everything. Indie, Techno, Rap (Army of the Pharoahs, Jedi Mind Tricks, Wu-Tang, Dre kind of stuff) and all kinds of toher stuff. I love music. Most of the stuff people listed on here already I jam on too. Alice in Chains, Demon Hunter, Stratovarious, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep, Nightwish etc.
You, my friend, named off amazing bands. Have you heard of Demons and Wizards? Blind Guardian's frontman with Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth. F*cking amazing music.
Werd. I considered one myself once, I know it's the obvious choice but who gives a damn, it's badass.
