Hi, I noticed that you've got 985 achievement score on OF, would you please share how you get that 30 points secret achievement? I can't see the condition in OF as it's hidden for those who haven't got it. Thank you very much!
I just got it sitting here watching anime. I just kept continuing because I saw on the 360 version there is a 30 continue achievement and being the badasses that we are we do not continue ever because it is all about score! You have to continue a whopping 50 times. Last achievement is still a mystery. I am better on it being a certain number of times getting the stage 3 extend item. I am too lazy to do that and I should eventually get that many if I keep going for score like I am. I am hopelessly addicted to this game until the next hook champ game comes out soon. Hook champ and this are the only games that I have played that I try to keep up on the scoreboards.
Also is it just me, but I hate the iphone mode for this game. I hate that I cannot keep moving and it really gets on my nerves. I played it once just to get the achievement, but I do not think I will ever go back because of how much time I have put into the arcade playstyle.
Thanks so much for the info! As for the last achievement, since getting the 1up in stage 3 already worths 40 points, it's unlikely they will let you collect that for 15 times and only give you 15 points. It also seems that there's no overlap on the achievements, maybe the last one is something else, I guess
Well, I don't like the iPhone mode either because all 3 characters are reduced to the same unmovable targets when entering awakening perceptive, it doesn't feel like playing STG at all. I still don't quite get how you can achieve high score with iPhone mode, the awakening system seems useless when fighting bosses (maybe it's just I don't get the handle of it yet). I also feel that it's kind of cheating that you can cancel all the bullets in the screen by simply entering then quickly exit the awakening mode, so in addition to the 4 barriers, you have another 4 to 5 bombs!
You enter the mode and you can use the pulse to turn the bullets into gems or like you said just enter and exit which seems a little ridiculous easy mode. Then again the main reason games like this are not as popular is because they are about difficulty and score and not I beat the game using 20 continues now what do I do? I am sure to get a high score it takes a lot of skill and it is not just button mashing, but I cannot get over the fact that I can't move. It just seems awkward for a schmup.
I'm at work at the moment guys but i'll go over all the posts when i'm back from work and update the first post as necessary.
chexk03 are you 'Xiaoke' on Openfeint? Check the Tateha Arcade scoreboards. That was *INCREDIBLY* close and I only finished it with a single life left. If I can work on where I kept losing lives, I reckon I could reach #1.
Yep, I am. Congratulations! That's totally amazing! What's your strategy for the final form of last boss? I think that's the biggest problem as Tateha has the weakest fire power among the 3 so you have to fight longer in that crazy bullets curtain, I always lose at least one life there. If we can figure out the patterns of the final form and develop a safest route I reckon our scores can be even higher! Edit: Found the safest way for novice mode: In normal perception, Tateha's raphier shots does higher damage when close to enemy, so when the last boss enter her final form, get close to boss and keep on shooting until the crystal rings begin to emerge, go back to the bottom of screen and dodge in the area between the left end and the middle, when you feel not safe, use the barrier burst without hesitation to reset the bullets. Although boss will be invincible for a while, you still can consume a certain amount of her life before you have to use the barrier again, repeat that for 3 times, now the boss only have a mere amount of life left, use the last one barrier burst to reset the bullets and enter absolute awakening perception immediately, (switch to normal shots in Tateha's case as this does higher damage) and CRUSH her before the DEADLY bullets even touch you, now all the bullets will become tons of 500X. I just practiced with final stage and in this way you can get at least 25 mil from her last form, holy crap!!!!! 300 gems will be sufficient for this strategy. PS: I think this works for Ageha too, just need even less time. As for Asagi, simply enter absolute awakening and rape her, you don't need so much hassle.
You folks are way beyond my skill level, but I love this game to death. Funny thing is, now that I'm trying to improve my scores as I know more about the scoring... now I can't 1cc the game. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get there. EDIT: also agree that the game desperately needs save state.
Save state or bust! My time has been eaten up by school and work as of late. Hopefully this weekend I will have some time to push my scores above 200 million. I'm falling behind =( I do agree though. This scoring explanation has helped me greatly along with the more in depth discussion than there is on the actual game thread.
Got 326 mil for Asagi Arcade, this time I made less mistakes than last time, but it was close cause I made a serious mistake in the final stage: I got hit when multiplying bullets in absolute awakening after the white midboss, which not only canceled all the bullets left but also completely depleted my barrier, fortunately by moving very carefully I made it through the second part of Asagi clones area without barrier or awakening (also managed to collect a lot of points in the first area with absolute awakening). When playing Asagi, I found it's really helpful for raising your score by using absolute awakening to instant-kill certain boss forms which generates a lot of scores, for example: the 4th bullet pattern of Seseri 1st form in stage 5, which I already referred before; and the last form of semi-final boss in last stage (that big green "incubator"). However this only works with Asagi because of her extremely high damage in (absolute) awakening perception, for other two char it's simply just impossible to finish the boss before you get rinsed out by the bullet avalanche. On the other hand, when I played as Teteha, I managed to get 170 mil before final boss but completely screwed up in her last two forms, losing 3 lives by stupid mistakes and ends up with 280 mil lol. After that I never achieved the same score ever. I also found for higher score it's really important to get the hidden gem funtains in stage 2. Although it's totally a matter of luck, if you can get that then 500 gems will become incredible scores on the deck! Well, it's just I consume most of gems I got at the beginning of the stage 2 for finishing the two ships in awakening perception.
Found a system explanation for espgaluda II Xbox360 version, there's some variation compared with the iphone version, but most of them are still the same and I think it's really helpful. Vally, you may find it really helpful for editing your first post. Note that the "Awakening perception" is referred as "Kakusei Shikai" (the japanese term) in this post so don't get confused. http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6281 I think one of the most helpful tips is: Gems are consumed when you kill a enemy in (Absolute) Awakening perception by: _____________________________Boss____Normal Enemy___Zako(the weakest enemy) Awakening perception___________-60_________-25________-5 Absolute Awakening perception___-50_________-10_________0 This really explained a lot and gave us a good hint of how to control the consumption of gems. Something I want to add: 1. CONFIRMED: The Absolute Awakening Over does exist! http://magus.main.jp/cgi/wiki/pukiwiki.php?ESPGALUDA%20II%2F%B9%B6%CE%AC You can enter this mode by either consuming all gems but still have golds in Absolute Awakening Perceptive or press and hold Awakening button when you have 0 gems and more than 1 golds. In the Absolute Awakening Over, you get more golds than normal Awakening Over, and the game speed will be slower at certain place (when there's a lot of bullets I suppose?), same as Awakening Over, as long as you stay in this form the score will automatically increase, and you have 1.5X increasing rate compared with the normal Awakening Over. However the enemy's (especially the boss) attack will become extremely intense in this mode. When you clear a stage in Absolute Awakening Over, you will start next stage in normal Awakening Over. 2. The boss strategy part is only when you save enough gems and golds for boss and aim for 500X, for us who use absolute awakening during the stage, it's kind of hard to save gems and golds for the boss. Especially in Stage 2 and 3, the boss is right after the best area of absolute awakening, usually at this timepoint you have no gem and is in awakening over, all you can get is 50~80 gems from the first two forms of boss, so it really require a precise control to use absolute awakening with this little amount of gems to finish the boss. For stage 4 and 5, if you go back to normal perception manually right after the best area of absolute awakening, you can still manage to get ~200 gems for boss, which is definitely enough for the finishing move. 3. In iphone version, you lost half of your gems and golds when you miss (if you have less than 250 gems it will fill to 250?), in Xbox360 version you don't have the penalty I think. Edit: Got 331 mil with Ageha, could have got to the 1st place but I stupidly missed in stage4 boss and stage6 boss, and also failed to finish the final form of last boss in absolue awakening.
Yah that site is what I have used with this page for scoring information and such. I just need to practice stage 6 to the max and be able to no miss it. The final form of the last boss is just hit and miss for me because I understand the bullet pattern to a point by going left to right and vice versa in between waves but it makes it very hard to actually hit the boss with some characters. I am still being sucked in by reading and school and haven't gone for a highscore since my asagi clear of around 200 million. Not enough free time to read the books I want to, watch the anime I want, and keep up with getting new scores in this amazing little iphone masterpiece. All the while going to college.
Thanks to ccdan, I finally got the last secret achievement! That's to use up the entire barrier gauge in one barrier attack. Another trap for us who aim for scoring, isn't it? I also noticed that in iPhone version, killing enemy in close range with rapia shots will also generate HUGE gems, you don't have to use normal shots!
Anybody wanna post a video of them going for a scoring run? I get the basics of this game, but can't seem to break past about 900th place with Asagi on normal.
To be honest, you don't have to play normal difficulty to get a high score, I got the 320+ mil with Asagi Arcade in novice difficulty and currently rank 1st. There're a lot of useful tips in this thread which can help you improve your score. I would suggest first you better make sure that you can nomiss clear the game without any problems, then start to introduce absolute awakening and aim for score as the risks introduced will increase the difficulty a lot. Although technically in normal difficulty you can have more bullets to be turned into scores, if you miss too many times you'll get less score than no-miss in novice. As for iPhone mode I really don't know much, hopefully someone can give us some tips.
yeah, stay long in absolute awakening (press the awken button longer), and that's the most fun part of this game You have to play in expert mode tho well, guys talking about much more advanced thing here
Stage 6 is the main reason my scoring hopes get dashed. I just need to practice it until I can no miss it completely.
