    Here's another update!

We've made giant leaps in the combat department - fighting in empire is unlike any other game, and is not what you'd expect in a game like this.

In an armored, sword-wielding nutshell: Your units line up and charge forward automatically, attacking enemies in range.

In a balanced encounter, with equal forces on both sides, this would lead to mutual destruction.
Hah - you won't be defeated that easily, will you? You don't have to, you have combat cards.

Combat cards are used in combat to alter the tactical landscape: move an archer to a better position, make a warrior do a great swipe-attack or even use a magic healing spell to better your position.

You only have a few of these cards, but you can use them over and over. You only draw four of them in each combat, however, but as you use cards, new ones take their place. If you run out of cards, your discarded ones are simply placed back into your draw pile again.

Say, do you guys know the card-game called Dominion? If you do, it saves me a lot of intricate explaining.
In a flat, printed nutsnell - dominion has you collect more and more cards, to increase your tactical palette.
But the more cards you get, the less certain are you that you're going to get the ones you want as you draw your cards.

There is a wealth of depth in this, and in Empire, this is the first time someone (hey, as far as we know!) combines a 4X strategy game with this kind of mechanic.

Beta tests start soon (our soon is a little sooner than a Blizzard soon, so rejoice!). Look up for info on how to join our beta.

Keith will have more info soon for you guys.

Hey, did you all have a look at www.Empire-game.net yet?

Looks really cool. Really like the minions on bases like figurines. Mechanics of the game sound interesting but probably have to be played to be believed. Really hope this one does turn out solid and different.
    Keep it up.

Hey all, just wanted to update you on how EMPIRE is doing!

Combat has now switched from 2D art to 3D art, although the gameplay is the same. Also, wanna see the game running on device? Here you go!

There will be a new beta build available in a few minutes.

It has too many changes and improvements to list, but it almost feels like a new (EVEN BETTER!) game!

    Enjoy.

Hey there folks, Marty from Empire again!

It's been a long time since I've posted an update on here, but that's just because we've been superbusy dealing with the beta. We've got about 60 people toiling away on our (almost) daily beta builds.

What am I saying? You can still join the beta! Look on www.empire-game.net for more info. I'd say we've got about two weeks left. So give it a try!

Right now I have you all you good people two new screenshots of Empire. Most things you can see in the screenshots are evolutionary, not revolutionary. Mostly graphical polish and changes to the UI. In the gameplay, however, there have been landslides of change. But I guess you'd have to have been in the beta from day one to be able to tell ;)

Note the the combat screen that all the 3D modeled units are in! We also have creepy tentacles all over the terrain that you simply have to see in motion!

    Marty out.

Where should I send feedback? I haven't seemed to be able to get through to anyone yet.

BTW, if any of you are involved in the beta, we're now at a feature-complete state and we'd really love some feedback. We're almost finished with the game overall, it's exciting. Can't wait for you guys to see it.
