I just looked through the first page of the Promo Codes and Contests area; I've won one code from Meteor Blitz, nothing else. But furthermore, that justifies me not liking Gameloft, that I don't get promo codes from them? That is honestly the stupidest thing I've heard in a while, I'm sorry. I guess you think I hate all console games as well then, since I don't get those for free?
Calm down, can we please get back on topic? There's no reason to fight over this in this thread, if there's even a reason to fight about this in the first place.
I'll chime in here. First of all, let me admit that I am what you would call a ngmoco fanboy. My favorite game is Rolando and I think that Plus+ is the greatest thing to happen to iPhone gaming (seems that every Plus+ game is fun, polished, and high in content with the exception of Scarecrow - but it's kind of an exception). Anyway, what ngmoco has done to iPhone game is greater than what Gameloft or EA has done even though they come out with less games. Gameloft's primary focus is to fill in the genres that are under represented in the platform. They released a good FPS, they released a golf game, a GTA clone, and executed them all very well. EA primarily is there to bring high quality premium games to the iPhone. While both of these things help the iPhone as a gaming system, the real innovation lies in ngmoco. ngmoco hasn't cloned games from "real" consoles or filled in empty genres, ngmoco has created NEW types of gaming that are UNIQUE to the iPhone. ngmoco was the first to create the dual joystick control scheme with "touch anywhere" technology (Dropship), the first to create a full iPhone platformer that could not exist on any other console (Rolando), the first to create a polished 3d Tower Defense game (Star Defense), and the first to create an online achievement system that is polished, has high quality games, good oversight, and lots of achievements with BALANCED rewards. Gameloft may have perfected the iPhone FPS control system, but ngmoco has taken that and made it original with the first high quality online deathmatch that can be played on 3G and Wifi (upcoming Eliminate). Gameloft and EA are filling in the empty spots, but ngmoco is creating new ones. I don't think that Gameloft would have promised to integrate online multi to MC: Sandstorm and NOVA if ngmoco hadn't announced Eliminate (formerly Livefire). What ngmoco is doing to the iPhone gaming console almost reminds me of what Apple did to the computer industry (of course on a much smaller scale).
Ngmoco is contributing to iPhone gaming, yes I agree @dumbfan! The same way gameloft is opening doors for all genres! What I hate about ngmoco is their pay for a price model that they are trying to introduce!
These days, all threads end up talking about gameloft in some way. (or aqua globs if that DGH guy sees the thread). It is really annoying all the game discussion threads revolve around gameloft, all the upcoming game compare their games to gameloft, and everyone in the game releases say you should buy a gameloft game instead. I am by no means a gameloft hater as I have enjoyed several of their games, but they are way overrated. Most of their games have a 3 hour campaign (give or take a few) and have no replay value after that. Given those 3 hours of gameplay are fantastic and very polished. Also the lack of content updates piss me off. I think people need to calm down and focus on thread at hand and stop talking about gameloft unless the thread is about gameloft However ngmoco has a fair share of problems as well, #1 being they can't market their games for their lives (Rolando 2 never touched the charts and Eliminate has just been a mess since the first gameplay footage at the apple event) As for EA they are like Gameloft in that they don't do content updates, but unlike gameloft they're games are terrible at launch and just get praise and sales because they are well...EA
Being honest here, the idea of "paying for energy" is a massive turn-off for me. What if I want to play this game a lot? I'll be one broke fool. Also, it won't have a campaign mode outside the online aspect. Unless the practice mode is really good, I don't think I'll get this game. I'm thinking of getting Nova and MC:S instead, but I will wait and see how the three games turn out. I'll probably just get one or two of them and that's it.
Will this shit ever stop? Thank God the new PSP comes out in 8 days so I can get off of here for a while.
Why do people come to a NGMOCO thread to trash them? NGMOCO, copycats? Are you crazy? Where did they copy Rolando from? It is a brand new idea, that many other companies are running with. And as far as Gameloft perfecting the control scheme, NGMOCO created the control scheme that Gameloft uses. Eliminate looks amazing, and just because you are not an NGMOCO fan does not mean that the games they create arent good. They are one of the top developers for the idevice (as is Gameloft), and at least they actually update their games, as Gameloft tends to make empty promises. I wonder if we will ever even see a multiplayer mode for Modern Combat? Probably not, as they have made similar promises before and never delivered. Regardless, there is no way NOVA will outdo Eliminate. I think it will be a pretty fair matchup, though noone really knows if NOVA will actually have a server for online play, and we know that Eliminate does. Please stop with the trash talk, they both look great. Edit: I guess you could consider Rolando similar to Loco Roco, but it is still a fresh ideal.
