The mechanics are good and you have multiple attacks which make every combat dynamic and fluid. You use swipes, Taps and special attacks to defeat ennemies but it gets really boring after a while because that's all you ever do. You advance in a set of linear corridors that always look the same and you just keep on fighting. Rinse and repeat... They try, later on, to add some different types of missions but they add little to the overall nature of the game and they amount to you doing the same thing over and over again. It's free so I can't really complain but it's only good if you play it in short bursts. It's such a shame because we still haven't got a great diablo like experience (except maybe Dungeon Hunter 2) and coming from Robot Entertainment I was expecting more. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #28 awp69, Oct 23, 2013 Except it's not free for us. So, thanks for the imps. Five bucks saved. Didn't saw that coming and I didn't even pay attention to sanuku's post. Well that's asking quite a lot if nothing was changed from the version I played... Played the soft-launch, and it got tiring realllllly fast. Hobbesian Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2012 128 0 0 #33 Hobbesian, Oct 24, 2013 That's not the half of it. The game actually plays pretty well, but as you go along you'll collect caches, which are locked chests. These chests can only be unlocked at the end of a level with... Premium currency. And if you choose not to unlock them there and then, they're lost forever. There is a name for these kinds of mechanisms in japan, it's called 'gatcha' and over here in the uk they're examining the legality of such mechanism in game apps. I'm absolutely disgusted with robot entertainment. Shame on you, shame on you. Drummerboycroy Well-Known Member Apr 2, 2012 4,172 0 36 Clinician Maine! #34 Drummerboycroy, Oct 24, 2013 Wow. Although I feel that people sometimes engage in hyperbole using words like "disgusting" to describe video games/developers, that is actually pretty disturbing. I'm not even sure what else to say. DBC Hobbesian Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2012 128 0 0 #35 Hobbesian, Oct 24, 2013 I'd accept it, albeit grudgingly from a free to play title, because whatever, it's their choice how they monetise it. But this game starts out as an effectively premium title and then starts needling you for money right away, the premium currency comes at you in a real slow trickle and as it turns out, it's the only way to get echoes levelled in good order, not to mention the only goddamn way to open these locked effing boxes. Premium currency shouldn't even bloody exist in this game, not given the up front payment. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,972 722 113 England #36 psj3809, Oct 24, 2013 Thanks for the warning, was tempted to get this but at $5 (its not like its free) and there are 'gatchas' which you have to buy IAP's to unlock. No no no. Freemium is one thing, timers another, but now 'gatchas' ? Whats the world coming to The games $5, if this was free you could 'kinda' see what they're doing regarding IAP's but $5 and they want premium currency to unlock boxes ? I dont want this type of thing to get popular over here (gatchas), i'm staying away 100%. Hobbesian Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2012 128 0 0 #40 Hobbesian, Oct 24, 2013 Yeah, I'm going to have words with them about their concept about using the premium currency over and above their premium price point and their asinine gambling mechanics.
