Wow that's terrible! I think if that happens to me I'll probably get my money back from iTunes. They're usually pretty good about stuff like this, especially when a lot of people are complaining about similar issues. Which I'm sure there are.
OK. So I finally decided to give this a try. And without having to read through the last 70+ pages, just want to know if anyone has some tips on "beating" the ridiculous IAP system. Connector did an awesome job on ways to successfully play RR3 without parting with a buttload of cash. I'm enjoying what I've played so far, but know I'm going to be sorely disappointed when those paywalls start to hit.
My advice- use co-op in the various arenas to grind and farm gold, watch a few free videos to gain enough gems to increase your bag storage and unlock the third character slot, and once your character is high enough level play through the story and the various missions to advance the story and unlock better places to grind. Also, do all the side quests, they offer a good amount of gold and xl every time you complete them. For class choice, if you want a melee fighter go with the blade master(kills things much more quickly, you take a lot less damage and don't need potions. Also considerably faster and easier to avoid boss attacks, as well as some projectiles), if you want a ranged fighter I'd say battle Mage is better because it's projectiles get splash damage (great for mobs) and the teleport deals damage (vs the roll of the sentinel)
Actually it's not impossible. The main thing is to get your inventory slots up as that'll give you enough room to combine gems and make you powerful enough to get through the game. You'll keep whatever xp and loot you earn when you die so it's really just a matter of grinding to the highest level you can. Do coop whenever you can, upgrade gear, merge gems and sell whatever you're not using. So far, I've only payed $5.00 to buy some inventory slots and an xp ring and still have 200 gems left over for a rainy day so it's actually pretty doable.
lol never said it was impossible. I know you can get through the game without spending a dime, especially if you make good use of the co-op and multiplayer options. I also paid for the $5 gem pack, just because I wanted a ring that would eliminate some of the grinding of the game for me. It's very doable to beat the game without it, but I just don't have the time these days.
So, I'm playing tonight and I merged some round blue charms. A while later, I check back to the charm inventory screen and they are just gone. Im irritated at this point. Then, I click on equipment and suddenly there is a set of tier 25 scimitars in my inventory. I was using level 11 swords so this was a huge upgrade. Ok, Gameloft...keep my stupid round blue charm, fair trade. Now I'm on a tear again, level 18 now. Then, the item for sale on the loading screen was the exact same scimitars. Really weird, but I ain't complainin'. Edit: the scimitars are in the store for 800 gems, wow. best. bug. ever.
Had my share of good/bad bugs too. The most annoying one for me was when some equipment glitched and would not upgrade at all. On the bright side, that shop glitched happened to me with a lv 23 blue gem bracer set and ended up with two of them; I sold the extra one for a cool 230000.
So deleted the game found the graphics nice but the requirement to be online to remove charms, upgrade weapons, and other frustrating. I play on my iPad and am not always with a connection. Upgrade timers are frustrating, potion timer is ridiculous, 8 hours, did have 1 potion timer at 4hr rest have all been 8. Cant store potions since max is 3 and have not seen a single drop, I take it they don't. Online gameplay need Facebook log on or Gameloft live, don't have Facebook and since Gameloft user data hack don't want it. Not sure why it doesn't want to use gamecenter. Finally played Dungeon Hunter 2HD and found it even with non retina graphics so much more fun. With buying of gear I miss the excitement of exploration searching for those rare sets.
Okay, so I had the bug where my potions never came back, instead just showing the 20 gem fee, for three days. I reinstalled, and that seems to have fixed the problem. BUT, now my inventory will not hold new items. I only have 7/20 slots full, and when I open a chest and get a new armor piece or something, it's not in my inventory... Awesome.
My potion timer is still broken, but this sword that magically appeared in my inventory is such a beast that it doesn't really matter. I think I am going to back up my game with iFunBox and put it on my wife's Mini. If my character comes over okay and it fixes the timer, I'm going to reinstall and try to get my potions back.
Installed a hack and now Dungeon Hunter 4 is great! Unlimited play for no money and I get unlimited gold and gems. Take that Gameloft! Stunning graphics on my iPhone 5. #
I also had a weapon magically appear in my inventory. I was in the process of saving up for one worth 160,000 when after merging some life leech gems it just appeared in my inventory. Not a bad day, not bad at all.
Anyone know how to do the weekend challenge? The top challenge seems pretty specific ie. do "this", the weekend challenge just says "something" challenge.
Time for a long post! Having a turn around with this game now, I am actually starting to enjoy this game quite a lot! Currently using the big sword man (as my son calls him). Of course, the IAP and the timers on everything are quite horrendous and overly aggressive....definitely something early on that can turn people away very easily. However, I was curious how much grinding etc I would have to do to progress without spending any real cash....the answer is LOADS and LOADS! The early grinding was not fun, but when I reached a decent level of coins to buy a decent weapon, then it all changed. Getting over the early difficulty spike was key....once I had comfortably beat Warmage Academy without potions, the game opened up in my eyes. The Goblin Caves level is excellent, hope there are more like it further into the game. I like Goblin Caves because it is like a proper dungeon-y level....good variety of enemies and rooms. Plus the bridge section is cool, where it zooms in and youre battling left-to-right a bit like that battle scene in the film 300 (sort of!). Its good to grind this level over and over, I think the boss drops about 12000-15000 coins when you kill it. Add to that all the other coins you get from the other enemies, loot from chests/trolls to sell or equip/merge, and overall you get quite a lot from 10-15 mins play. Character is at a level where I can beat the boss on this level without any potions or running around tactics just pure smashing and bashing. I have actually earned enough black ore to forge the first weapon, which made a huge difference too. From the daily free gems you get by watching the adverts, I have managed to expand inventory twice, just saving up 30 to unlock the next inventory space now. Have merged a ton of good charms so far, this is one of the addicting features, although very frustrating with the timers still arrrrrrgh. Its worth it in the end, you can really notice the improvement once you equip a load. Also have upgraded all my gear to have 3 spaces for gems, so character is quite beastly at the moment. The charms Ive got now are : : +50% critical damage (got 2 of those) : +12.18 health per second : +49 base damage (another +36, another +25) : +5% to health and energy (this was a dropped charm I picked up from Valance arena level, not merged) : +3% to health and energy : +2.5% health leech : +25% poison damage : +10% lightning damage : +5% damage Ive got charms merging currently, not yet equipped. The pain with charms is the ridiculous timers, sometimes 1 hour 47 minutes to remove a higher level charm....argh. Also, it eats up your inventory space. Have had to sell off a few potentially good ones just to free up space. But I guess its part of the challenge, just one of those things. Still not spending a penny, and am still grinding crazy, but am actually enjoying it. I would suggest sticking with it for a bit, just get on with grinding the low levels over and over, and as your level improves, youll notice better drops from enemies/chests of gear, charms and black ore etc. - and certainly from the Warmage Academy onwards, have felt progression to be a bit less frustrating. Youll then find you can grind the Warmage Academy, then Archives , caves etc All for free!!! Am glad I didnt give up on this game. It is a grind-fest, but its turned out good.
Very similar experience here. I'm tempted to drop $4.99 to expand my inventory and buy a XP/gold ring...but, people are reporting game breaking bugs so I'm not going to put any money towards it until I can be confident it won't get flushed. That would be a small price to pay for the time and enjoyment I've gotten out of the game...but giving Gameloft any money is still a tough pill to swallow. I wish I could get my potion timer working again. I haven't had a potion to use in days.
Nice post. I'm a bit ahead of you in the quest to finish the game without a dime of IAP spent. Reached Void yesterday, only have a couple of places to go. Other than farming gold, finding and merging the right charm is key to long term survivability.
