I just played 5 minutes of the tutorial. It's pretty humorous how they casually teach you to skip timers with gems like its "what you're supposed to do".

Is there any co-op once you get past the tutorial?

1)No, it's an always-online game for checking this sort of thing
    2)It's stealing
3)You probably just got yourself a ban.

Ya it seems to be 4 hours now. But even 30 seconds is too long though.

It's already been 4 hours for me since the game released, probably the 8 hour timer was on the NZ version I suppose?

As soon as I got the game (like 10 minutes after release) I said it had a 4 hour timer instead of Ta plays video's 8-hour and someone confirmed that.

Agree. Maybe in Dungeon Hunter 5, you have to wait 1 hour between each use of the attack button....unless you drop some gems on purchasable only with real cash of course.

But on a serious note, health potions are a key mechanic in such games. Back to the 'answers' provided by Devs that the cooldown is to stop easy completion of the game (do you think we're stupid?) - you could balance the enemy difficulty, or limit the amount you can carry so that it's....well, just normal!!!

I think everyone here gets the Freemium model rationale, but it is overly aggressive in this case. And most people like a grind in a dungeon crawler/rpg but its ridiculous here.

    That's a start towards a better balance, I guess.

On one hand, IAP can be gross. How gross usually depends on the implementation. In this case, it looks pretty damn gross but I have to spend more time with the game to be able to form my own opinion.

On the other hand, I've gotten many hours of enjoyment out of free-to-play games without ever spending a penny.

I suspect this one will fall somewhere in the middle. Its gross enough to make you shake your head and say "tsk, tsk" often...but the gameplay seems really solid if you're an ARPG fan.

I have little kids so I'll probably only have time to play for an hour or two at night usually. Given that schedule, I can probably get a pretty fun experience here for free kind of like I did with Real Racing. However, I can definitely see how people with more free time than me would be completely disgusted by this. I get it.

This is a pretty buggy game. I got around 100 gems just from watching videos...sometimes it would give me ten per vid, sometimes it would give me ten gems and then loop, once got 20-30 for one video.

And then the watch video button disappeared and I got annoyed with the Warmages Academy. Shame on you Gameloft for ruining this franchise. It was one of your best.

I totally understand the frustration over the way they handle potions in this game, but having played years and years...and years of Diablo 2 I've seen potion spamming become a crutch for lack of skill. So how do you balance that out (maybe limit the number of potions you can bring in to battle)?

DH4 does provide for Health regeneration, both as a default ability and with gems/skills. You get completely healed when you level up (some games do not do this) You get healed after you die and restart a level/arena (once again, some games do not do this or have your health replenish on a timer).

All in all i'm enjoying it a lot, if I hit a part of the game that is to hard, I go to the arena and grind a bit for gold/ore/xp. Yes the best weapons can only be purchased with gems, but the first bow I crafted (which was free, just had to grind a bit for the iron) added about 250 to my attack. For me its the best hack and slash game on ios. I don't enjoy the freeminization of games on ios or any console for that matter but this is definitely a step up from DH3.

    Off topic kind of but
Path of exile handles potions in a neat way, you refill potions by killing/attacking stuff, basically you can carry 4 potion bottles which can be any mix of health, mana, or buff/debuff potion bottles, each bottle allows you take so many drinks and they take so many kills to refill. It is a great, great free to play arpg and if you have a decent pc I highly recommend it. It also handles freemium by providing more bag space, more character slots or cosmetic effects. It is already extremely generous with the amount of character slots and bag space so you can easily play it for the whole game without buying anything and it doesn't get all up in your bizznass trying to shove it down your throat either.

Back on topic, I enjoyed dh2 didn't even download 3 and I won't be grabbing this one either, just to big of an install for a freemium game for me personally.
