I COME WITH ANSWERS! For those concerned about timers for potions... The timer will be reduced to 4 hours and possibly to even 2 hours, depending on how the community react. The reason why the timer was set to 8 was because anything lower, and people would be able to complete the story way too easily. Players need an internet connection to upgrade their weapons, armor, etc to avoid cheating. Players COULD hack the game if online checks couldn't be performed. Any crashing issues upon the initial launch should be addressed in an upcoming hotfix. I hope these answers address some of your concerns!
So glad that alot on US app store already complained about this game being unplayable on iphone 5 latest iOS Expecting a huge update on it
Thanks for your timely response. I still think even 2 hours potion timers is to long but that would be better then 8 hours. The potion timers is the main reason I haven't downloaded and tried DH4 yet.
I'm so mad with this game. At first I took the timers with a grain of salt to see how far I could get. I got to the warmage academy and just got stuck with all the arenas. All my potions are used so I need to wait a while to get them back. The worst part is that even if I spent money to get 200 gems, that's only good for 10 potions. That's absolutely ridiculous. They need to release a premium version of the game where things can be bought with one currency only and not that expensive, this is truly ruining an experience that this game has delivered with the story, mix of arenas, and coop play. Such a shame.
Agree with this! The game still can be completed "way too easily" if you pay to get around the timer or buy a load of potions with real money, so actually a rubbish answer from the Devs. I may be wrong, and the whole potion thing is just one aspect, but am not convinced when the answer sounds like it is for our benefit.
Deleted DH4 a while back; if the Warmages Academy is any indication of the rest of the game then this just isn't fun. My pleas for a separate, paid app just got stronger! I can't support this business model, it's not fun and it's not rewarding. You guys used to make amazing games. Go learn from Dungeon Hunter 2, which, I think, I'll go redownload and enjoy for the 4th or 5th time. There's just n comparison between the two games
This. Instead of MAKING them simply postpone when they can do things, why don't you just make the actual gameplay harder. Another mediocre difficulty game with timers on it to make it play longer? Haha I'll pass.
Here's my experience so far after having spent a good couple of hours with the game (side note: my playing style may vary from yours so my pros and cons might not be the same as yours). After having played a couple of hours I have a level 14 Sentinal. I spent a lot of time in the arena (I happen to love grinding in this type of game where the loot drops vary and you can level up fairly quickly). I got enough iron to craft a decent bow, saved my skill points until I had unlocked a skill I really wanted then dropped them all in. I'm really enjoying it, finally went back to the story and just beat the Warmage stage. Played a couple of random multi-player. Overall its a definite improvement over DH3. Also watched some videos (~15) and bought two more slots for my inventory and opened up another character slot. Pros: -Graphics are great -Timers are not game stoppers. You can continue to use your items while you play even as they upgrade. -Gems add a lot of depth to your items. They can be merged to make them more powerful, they can be removed without damaging the item or the gem and they have a lot of variety. -When you upgrade an item it always works, a lot of freemium games add in a level of chance when you upgrade that allows for the upgrade you've been grinding for for the past hour to fail and put you back at square one. -Arena is great! A great way to level up and collect loot, ore and gold. Save that ore, the first tier crafting items are a big step up from anything you currently have.(unless you spent gems) Also, when you die, you don't lose any items or gold that you've looted. (This is another frustrating Freemium tactic) Cons: -Controls are a little glitchy, sometimes a button needs to be pressed multiple times before intended result occurs, really frustrating in the heat of battle. -Early level skills are fairly bland and unexciting, I didn't start investing skill points till level 14. (a lot of the skills have gems that will do the same thing; extra damage, poison damage, stun, lifesteal etc...) So far I'm really liking it, looking forward to playing more and playing through with the other character types. Hope this helps.
And this. Dh2 was awesome. Then they decided to try and scam everyone. I will not play a freemium pos like dh3 or dh4.
I understand the frustration of IAPs and I also am irritated when the IAPs are put in my face as aggressively as they are with DH4, however, they are not necessary in order to play the game. They are there for those of you who lack patience and skill. Sure, it's difficult without having to pay for something along the way because the timers do tend to he long, but I see that as a challenge to play more carefully. Also, obvious in every detail in this game, is the amount of craftsmanship and hard work that went into making a title like this work well on the iPhone. It is nothing short of impressive. Gameloft, just like other companies, are out there to make money, but the fact that they created this gem rather than hashing out another DH3 shows me that they do listen to their customer base. Give the game a chance. If you aren't patient enough to take your time and beat the game carefully then maybe you should just stick to Call of Duty. Either way, Gameloft is letting you try the full game for FREE, so there's no risk. Fun game. Nice work Gameloft. If I can make a single suggestion it would be to offer a premium, paid version alongside this free version. It works well with Heroes and Castles and I think it would please your customer base as well.
I know, i know, we're going to eat timers and IAP a lot in a next future. I've got absolutely every console in the past, from nes to ps1, neo-geo and all the others. I quit because of the price, and got a PC, and i became a pirate. Now i got an ipad, and i buy all my games, and it's a pleasure to be honest and support devs. Prices are normals, and not crazy like on consoles and pc. But if they continue in that way, timers and IAPs, i'll have to try something else, i don't know, curling or fishing, but something where you don't feel like a dumb. Well, these aren't not perfect examples I know money is what a dev want, and i understand that. But if i feel like a living wallet, like it was on consoles before with those crazy prices, i'll stop playing and find something else. Timers especially are such a bad idea. I prefer paying full price and not feeling myself as a idiot, waiting for a potion in a game. It's not possible for me. But i'm an old fossile, i think
I'm liking the game as long as IAP doesn't hinder me. Also, I'd love to be able to use the Duo with this game!!
Another fresh steaming pile from Gameloft...Iaps Are riduclous as beat to death before, but aside from that the game is boring an ricously shallow, no real stats, skill trees are atrocious and weapons /armor are mundane...zero reason for me to keep the 1.7gb of wastes space .
Seems to be a few people posting about DH4 not being "that" frustrating, DH4 can be played in its present state with some patience, all you have to do is not use XXX until such and such time. The point is nobody can play the game in which they really want to. Sure the game is playable, but throughout the entire expierence your forced to play a certain way because real life money is influencing ones play style. It's constantly on your mind while playing that money is needed in some fashion to slightly loosen the grip to allow you freedom to play as you see fit, period. DH4 is a remarkable game at its core. If I could just flat out purchase this game it would be amazing. Even if it was in tiers in IAP.
Pc games are too expensive so I pirated them....dumbest post I've read this week, don't worry about being a old fossil bro you fit right in with the self entitled mentality of a teenager.
