I think the default controls work wonderfully, but I could completely understand the request for some additional options for more personal customizatio ... However, what I don't really agree with is the incessant whining about content, some gamecenter bugs...the game is the cost of a value meal at any national fast food chain, and youcan see alot of effort and soul was put I to the game from the devs, and they have already promissed a steady stream of content... So what if the game only takes an hour to unlock everything At this point ? If you enjoyed that hour then you got your monies worth....or next time you scarf down that double heart attack with cheese, fries and a 44 0z coke, go talk to the manager and demand your money back because it only took you 7 minutes to scarf it down and demand your free meals periodically overthe next year to keep your belly full.
On the controls: I love them. And I usually prefer arrows with gas and brakes buttons for car games (Real Racing and GT Racing as well as Reckless Racing). In Death Rally, though, often aiming is as, or more, important than driving, and the stick is often much better for this purpose. Also, the car physics lend themselves to stick controls. However, more options are almost always a good thing. On the content: I've played for, perhaps two-three hours, and I've unlocked 71% of all unlockable content. However, looking at the list of bosses, I've killed 6, but have yet to take down 15. I've played through 8 of 12 challenges. What to take away from this presentation: for completionists, the game should offer at least 5 hours of gametime. For those who simply enjoy racing and fighting, my guess is that the game will be fun for at least 8 hours, more probably 10+. Without future upgrades taken into account, since I, of course, have no idea how much added longevity they will provide This isn't really an appealing argument at this point. The comparison lies not between other forms of entertainment and this game, but between Death Rally and other App Store titles, many of which offer more content and longer playtimes for less money. That said, I think the game is wonderful, the controls are *great* (though more options for those dissatisfied with the current controls are almost always a good thing), and I agree with you completely in that it is well worth the money. And then some. Much better rhetoric I'd gladly pay five dollars for a multiplayer-enabled (online, not local) Death Rally without the single player campaign, but with more cars, weapons (and presumably) tracks on the way, this is one game that stays on my iPhone. Even with everything maxed out, just doing races is fun.
Loved K-Rally on WinMo, which was pretty similar (but, IMHO, a much better control scheme and weapon system). Will purchase this title as soon as it receives online multiplayer.
personally love the control scheme as well, but options should definitely be added for those who don't. I agree that content is a little thin for a premium priced app, but hey ho, it's a game with a great potential for updates to add content (hopefully some of this will be free). Multiplayer would be f'ing amazing with a title like this. Do it. OK. Editing this because it has kept randomly quitting recently. Dunno why really. Anyone else had this issue?
Just figured out how to unlock the Grim Reaper achievement: After killing all 5 people, CONTINUE DRIVING till you finish the race. Do not lift your finger up. The achievement will register after you finish driving to the end after killing all 5 people. Hope this helps. On a sidenote, The spectrum achievement still won't unlock. Anyways, GREAT GAME, and as an achievement whore, the achievements are AWESOME. Way beyond awesome, actually. Lovin' this game, no gripes at all! More tracks, levels, achievements etc will be appreciated though. BUY THIS GAME!
What effects the fame rating? Sometimes it goes up constantly, but at the moment even when I come in first it is dropping, every time. The highest fame level I've managed to attain is about 80,000, so I have no idea how people are getting 2 million? Is there more to fame than just coming first at whatever difficulty?
Just thought I'd let the people whom it concerns, they should have sent you a DM on Twitter telling you to contact their email which is also in the DM.
Played for about 3 hours and beat everything and have god level. Can't wait for the possibility of new modes and multiplayer. Plus more cars, weapons and tracks.
Yes, I managed to get the achievement only after finishing the race, however it took few attempts. After I destroyed all 5 opponents the race would end after a few seconds whether I lifted my finger or not. One time I destroyed the last enemy right before the finish line and then crossed it. Thats when the achievement registered. BTW achievements and the whole Game Centre integration is buggy. I hope the devs are working on it. It would also be nice to know what determines the level of "progress". I leveled everything to the max but the progress meter is still showing 99%. Lastly I need some advice. I just can't kill the Adversary in the "Adversary Challenge". Is there a successful vehicle/weapon combination that works?
I used the Deliverator and the missiles to kill the adversary. Took a few tries, but I managed. Of course I had to get lucky along the way and pick up some ammo/turbo just at the right time.
Yes, i use the same. I suppose it is a matter of luck to some extent. I'll keep trying. Thanks for replying.
As ever, as soon as I complained about difficulties with the fame metre, it seems to be working fine now, as in, I can get above 80k. Still haven't managed to get more than 2.5k out of a single race though, any tips for getting a lot of fame out of 1 event?
Interesting, the original DM I received just said to send them a message, which I couldn't do, but then they began following me so I sent a DM to them with the info they wanted. I'm sure it will all be worked out in a little while.
This game obviously needs an arena/deathmatch mode where you kill each other until somebody reaches a score first. Maybe fine tune the lobby system a bit, like have (if you and when you add them ) the seperate game modes, like have an arena button, challenge button, race button and multiplayer lobby (and more if u add more). Stuff like that helps the game a lot.
Think of the analog stick as your steering wheel. Then it makes more sense why an analog contol is favorable over a digital left-right control. (not that I object to options)
Almost finished the game and it's pretty fun, although... The controls are OK but not great, tracks are kinda short, not a lot of cars/weapons/upgrades (the first car and upgrades are fun but after that it really gets the same old thing), and why does it sounds like I'm driving on the road when I'm drifting through the dirt? Reckless Racing is better IMO. It's the shooting in DR that makes it really fun. Try a race without guns for instance, really boring... Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars as it is right now.
What do I have to do to get 100% progress completed? I'm at 99% and defeated the adversary dude and leveled up all cars and weapons. What else is there to do?
This adds more to my overall negative view of the game. Thank you for touching on this stuff. Forgot it earlier. The bold part in particular.
