I personally love feedback, and suggestions from consumers. I can see where some of the wording is a little ... well, about what I would expect from someone who professes to be a game critic. I would suggest that a professional writer (just like game developers) should already know that you tailor your message.

On the business end of things, I agree the consumer drives the product choices in a profitable business model. But... that doesn't mean the individual consumer, rightly or wrongly. The iPhone market is in love with low cost apps. This downward pressure is counter to the "feature rich" demand.

Unlike other product lines, entertainment products have a very short shelf life. Games in particular (with some variation for platform) suffer from boom or bust, often immediately after release. PC games have a 6 month window, before they start getting discounted by wholesalers (unless they're extremely popular). Your line of reasoning is sound, but within context of product type, platform market conditions, and other factors (like season, and established franchise for example) all factor into product R&D investment, just as sales usually drives updates/support. I'm not saying it's a good system, but it is the system we live in until someone finds a new way to drive profitability.

    Cheers,

    Galen
