I agree. You don't find many games without IAPs anymore. But I'm sure Madfinger has it all balanced out.
Iap / no iap, as long as its balanced , i couldn't care less. I'll even throw some at it to reward them if the game turns out to be what I hope for. The same argument went on over asphalt 7 being so cheap but the iap had zero affect on the game whatsoever. Unfortunately, iap is going to only get bigger and bigger because it is a larger source of income for a developer than the initial selling price in any game. Recent reports show something like over 60% of revenue from games is from iap so it's impossible to ignore. I am not a fan of cheap priced games with iap but in relation to Madfinger, they've never let me down with a game yet. Plus they are a small team developer that are hardcore gamers themselves so they know what we want as well. But they do need to make a buck as well. If the cost of having continuous upgrades in a quality game is iap (that is balanced and not forced on you like some I could mention), well then I'm happy to have it. Plus at .79 cent (euro), I'm happily throwing another fiver at it because if the game came in at 9.99, 7.99, or whatever price, I'm still buying it. Developers of Madfingers quality need to be nurtured and cherished. I mean look at the excitement and anticipation Shadowgun drew in last September. Damn it, look back over the pages of this thread, it easily surpasses the excitement for just about any other game release. Few games have had this kind of affect so Marek and the guys and gals are certainly doing something very right. They want to make money on the game, that's for sure, but they also want to be proud of it and that doesn't include 'nickel and dime' ing people with iap.
And asphalt 7 is, ironically considering Gameloft's freemium experiments, the perfect example of iap that works. Total 100% unnecessary for the real gamer, a shortcut for the casual quick fix gamer. That kind of iap would be fine in Dead Trigger.
Ok guys/gals, lets talk about it more. Its paymium, personaly I hate those terms like freemium, paymium, free2play, premium, but world had changed since google, everybody expect everything for free and with same quality. So we have to update our goals, but we want to give to you greater value then our competitor. DEAD TRIGGER is for 0.99 USD with several type of iAP. As others games, we have two types of currency. Cash and Gold Fingers You need Gold Fingers for: 1st) "cheats" 2nd) Some weapons You can earn Gold Fingers in two ways : 1st) Watch video ads 2nd) Join our Facebook pages, twitter 3nd) Tap Joy offers or you can buy them through iAP. Max iAP is 12.99USD The most important thing is that you DONT NEED TO BUY ANY iAP, if you dont want, game will not force you to buy one.. Everybody in our team is playing game without iAP and have a lot of fun So its completely up to you, how much you want to support us, what you want to try, etc.. If it will make money, we can build really huge game and add a lot of new or missing features... And have fun for next several months
Good to know. Thanks madfinger! I will be buying and I'll support you too. Your games are gems on the appstore. Any news on the approval? Estimated release?
Oooo stop crying of iaps just because are there... Personally except few, the only games that i hit an iap wall are the freemiums with these building and energy times... As a lot of people here said, Asphalt 7 is full of iaps but is not necessary buy anything, to enjoy the game till the end (I'm almost finish the game without buy any single iap). Edit: And in some cases it is good to support the devs... 99cents for a game like this???... The same price you buy a chewing gum and spit it after some minutes??? Madfinger you ll have some extra cash from me for sure!!!
Wow. TapJoy ads, IAP currency, and an approval delay due to unfunny and sexist weapon descriptions? "Must have" just became "meh."
How well will this run on iPod touch 4th and it will probably come out in a few hours as on madfingers website it's moved into the games section and on upcoming one it shows shadowgun multiplayer
Dear Madfinger games... Thank you for all your hard work. Lol, that talk about IAP and the constant spamming for release date, time, hour, minute is just too damn funny I can't wait aswell, but I'll be happy anyway and will definitely buy it. I for one WILL buy IAP, not for the stuff (well maybe a little for weapons), but i think that 0.99 cents is just way to low for this and (like others mentioned) want to support a very good indie developer team that has never disappointed me. Ill be GLADLY refreshing every minute till your game comes out..
Just tried out csr racing and it is the worst example of bad iap. Fuel, time, cars, upgrades, basically bloody well everything. So if you want to check bad iap out, give that a try. Mareks description shows this will have none of the bad iap so I might even swing for the 12.99 option as a sign of support.
