    Thanks!

Check out the new Might & Magic X as well (on Steam). It starts out pretty clunky, but it gets good. Tough, but good.

If you can't wait till next week, try this game called Paper Sorceror on PC.

It's on steam for $5 and is possibly one of the best indie RPG harkening back to the EoB days. The graphics are black and white but it ties in with the story.

Okay, that just reinforced my already "set in stone" instabuy of the game. Did You get rid of the food system? That was the only part of Descent I didn't really like (although there was enough food to not run out of it).

Also, does the party banter generic (so any character can say anything), or it depends on the actual characters' gender/race/class, etc? I would always loved to play a dungeon crawler, where my party is alive, and the members are talking among themselves differently (so a human male says different things to a half-elven female than to a gnome male).
Okay, actually this "feature" isn't important at all (the generic banter is enough), but it's fun to think up ideas like this. :)

Now this game is officially the most anticipated upcoming release for me.

People should try out both Legends of Grimrock and Wizardry 8 for PC. Grimrock is a modern title that draws heavily form Dungeon Master while Wiz8 is an excellent classic; it's got deep deep deep party creation, outdoor environments, semi-open world, NPC's and party banter dependent on race, class, gender and personality type.

The game still has a food system, but I've added the ability to use fishing holes to gather food if you need to. Essentially, you can't run out of food, but if you don't use it wisely, you might end up having to catch your own.

The banter is based on character gender and class. It's not terribly complex, but it works for the most part :)

Wizardry 8 is fantastic. Love it.

I like Legend Of Grimrock a lot, but I dislike the way you can just "kite" around enemies constantly in battle. It removes a lot of the challenge.

Yeah, I'm a HUGE fan of Wizardy 6-8, but I really loved the party banter of Wizardy 8 especially. I really wish more RPGs would add it in because I think adds a lot to the party based experience.

Will this have difficulty settings? I loved Dungeon Master, Captive and Bloodwych back in the day but could only get so far and then combat got too hard and I couldn't progress. Never did know what happened in the end of those.

I love the concept of "party banter" too. I want to really try to do something more interesting with that on the next game.

There's no difficulty level, but I think Coldfire Keep is definitely less challenging then something like Dungeon Master. Combat can be difficult, but it's generally possible to get yourself healed back up without too much drama or cost.

Arrrgh, so the food system's still there... Okay, I'm a tad less excited, but I'll still instantly push the buy button.

Somehow every game with a food system just adds a needless chore to the player to manage something that takes away from the exploration.
Okay, I won't judge without trying, but I can't find an RPG game from the top of my head that has a good and enjoyable food system.

As for party banter, only pre generated characters had good party chat in past games, because writers could design the characters' personalities themself, and the characters really talked as real people (and had charater progression). I'm really interested how this can be done with random guys.

The food system in Coldfire is there more as a balance to other mechanics. For example, you can sleep in beds to fully recover health and mana. Doing so makes you more hungry though, so it COSTS you something, and that's important in a game. It makes you weigh up whether or not you really need to rest right now, or if you can go on without it.

It also opens up the possibility for a special type of bed in the Inn that also comes with a meal. That costs you some gold though, and some backtracking.

Having to make decisions is always a good thing :)

I definitely have to think about this food/water idea in the new game. It's something that always seems to divide players and cause some lively discussion.

That actually sounds like a pretty fair way of handling it. It's kinda similar to how the The Quest handles food/water consumption (which never hampered my enjoyment of the game at all). :)

So, I guess that this will be an iOS7 game? Also, having looked at the first and the last pages, I wonder what remains from original concept. Are puzzles and traps still in or is it just combat and exploration now? In any case it is great to see a good-looking old-school FP dungeon crawler.

    Minimum OS is 5.1.

There are still light puzzles throughout the dungeon and trapped objects and items that Rogue characters can disarm.

The game scope and concept hasn't really changed in the last couple of years. I originally (as in, day 1) intended to create a large RPG with outdoor areas and multiple dungeons, but that was taken off the table about a month in due to lack of funding/man-power for such a large endeavour. Since then, Coldfire Keep has been Coldfire Keep.

    Oh Happy Day!

Lol, just learned that this will run on my iPhone. Before, I thought it was iPad-only, missed the edit of the edit. Glad I did not know before, would have died of anticipation!

Release it and I pour my money over you, in an instant. ;)

Btw., the hero chicks look loveable. :)

My touchscreen is full of drool, Josh. But I am sure you didn't want this piece of info. ;)

This and Oquoni will keep me busy. And I told several friends to buy and support this yesterday. :)

I'd love to know the price of the app.
