Can someone explain to me what I'm supposed to do to unlock the quests? I've unlocked a lot of them, but I've never understood how my gameplay relates to the quests unlocking. Are there specific goals that I'm supposed to achieve? Or, do they just unlock as I continue to play? I've looked around the game for instructions. Maybe I totally missed them, but it's not very clear.
Quests unlock as you progress through stages. Complete one and another will pop up after you have completed it. Say the quest is to make a chain of 4 squares, do that and you'll gain points and close that quest, soon to be followed up by another one.
Alright, so, according to the game menu, right now I've completed 22 quests, but I really have no idea what I've done to complete those 22. It says: "Complete 2 more quests to unlock next bonus" The next "Quest" to be unlocked appears to be one with a "3x" on it. On the bottom of the screen it says: "3x goal score bonus for 10 sec (Expert+)" What does all of this mean? I feel like I'm a fairly bright individual, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what this means to my gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but to me the area that needs improvement is the whole "Quest" thing. The Help menu says: "A quest power-up will give you an objective and its reward could unlock new power-ups." That's not the least bit helpful. I'm still not sure what a "Quest" is. Am I supposed to do something special to unlock the "3x" quest? How do I do other quests? I'd like to know how my gameplay translates to completing quests. Help a brother out here.
Czar, You don't unlock quests, completing quests unlock power-ups. There is a power-up with a yellow exclamation mark (exclamation mark is also used in other games, like World of Warcraft, to show that someone has a quest for you). When you collect it, a quest objective appears on the lower left corner of the screen. You will also see the objective when you pause the game. For example, one of the objectives is to "Make a chain of 4 circles" and will complete if you score with a chain of 4 red or green circles.
Nice score sammysin! How long did your game last to get that score? Do you pause the game and take breaks or played it in one session?
Practice really works with this game. You'll find yourself getting better and better each day. Always try to make a chain even if it only contains two shapes since the scoring system rewards a length two chain more then two single shapes. As you unlock more power-ups you'll discover the best time to use them to increase your score even further.
Thank you! This is the information that I was missing. I don't play WoW, so I'm not familiar with that sort of indicator. And, I guess I never paid attention to the various icons on the screen. I've always just focused on my next move. The "Help" section is a little lacking in this area. I would suggest a re-wording of that section to mention something about the exclamation icons. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up for me.
Hi mate, congrats on getting the star quest problem fixed and all! Took me an hour straight to get that score, no breaks. I didn't get any shield power ups or anything, so I did it pretty much with skill and I guess that my score should entitle me to be known as CLP champion! P.S - I just doubled the arcade mode - normal score that was previously number 1, so that means I've had a good day on my favourite game.
Just purchased for the iPad! Love the iPhone version. One of my new favorite games of all time!! So simple yet addicting. I guess I'm a sucker for good graphics and bright colors... lol
Is anyone else having trouble with the screen to autoflip to portrait mode? I can't seem to get that to work.
It supports both orientations for landscape but it doesn't support portrait mode. There isn't enough room in portrait mode to display the information across the top of the screen.
This is a great game! Does the iPad version have a larger play area, or is it scaled 1:1? I could imagine this game being a ton easier if the play area was 2-3x as large.
From the screenshots it looks like you actually get a lot more play area which I think would really benefit this game giving you much more room to build chains as well as to see oncoming pieces.
Yes, the iPad version offers a lot bigger play area to create chains. There was so much extra space that I made the shapes a little larger in the iPad version to fill some of that void but it still about four times the play area as the iPhone version.
I have to say, having spent literally hundreds on the app store this year that this game is right up there in my top three. It is incredibly addicting - the perfect "one more go" formula and already shaping up to be a classic.
I'm assuming the iPad and iPhone versions have different leaderboards? The entire point of the game is maintaining space. Increasing the play area makes the game a ton easier, and substantially changes the core design mechanics as well. Have you adjusted anything to compensate for that?
lol I'm #19 on the iPhone version and I thought my score was good until I looked at the #1 guy with 1,000,000+ points...
