Have her try rebooting her phone. After running your device for awhile you can get low on memory and there might not be enough free memory to start the game.
I'll make the sound effects a little louder in the next release. Are you using headphones or the ipod's speakers?
Nice job sammysin! Any chaining tips you can share with the rest of us that you've discovered while working towards that high score? I'll be sharing more of my tips at some point but I'm curious on the types of strategies other people are coming up with.
Sure pal, obviously there is a risk assessment with this game. You very much need to try to rid of strays on the screen that can't be paired up, so that they don't interfere with the colours that can be chained. I usually go for 2's that build your score up, obviously, the special powers e.g. slow motion really help. A very quick index finger is another key, use the tip of your index finger for very speedy control, also don't give up as you never know when you'll get an excellent game! Hope that helps!
While I'm not even sure if or when I'll make the iPad jump, any plans to make an iPad version of this game? I'd imagine the extra screen space and the nature of this game would make it an easy choice for iPadinization.
I'm working on the iPad version now in time for the iPad launch date! The bigger screen lets you make some really long chains and extra space works out great for Static mode. I've posted a screenshot in the iPad preview post located at http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=49152
Yes, hopefully Openfeint will improve the Challenge code soon. As of today they only allow a single shot challenge or a multiple attempt challenge with unlimited tries. Chain Link uses the multiple attempt challenge. But it does keep track of the number of times a challenge was re-tried and that does show up in the history section of challenges. So you could still brag that you beat the challenge in a few tries.
Hi jak56, Version 1.0.1 of Chain Link Pro was released a few moments ago. It resolves a crash on non-3GS devices when you run low on memory. Give it a try and let me know. Sammysin, give version 1.0.1 a try and see if that fixes the loading issue. Version 1.0.1 made the sound effects louder so you can hear them over your ipod music better.
Vexorg my friend, my girlfriend reinstalled and it worked perfect. Cheers. I'll download the new update now.
Here's a scoring tip for Chain Link Pro. Sometimes a larger shape will spawn with a 2x,3x or 4x scoring label on it. If you use that shape as the head of your chain as opposed to the tail of your chain, you'll earn more points. This is because each piece of the chain's score is based on the score of all the shapes that were before it in the chain. So stack your higher bonuses at the beginning of the chain to earn more points for the pieces at the end of the chain.
I cannot get enough of this game! If you like games like GeoSpark, I am sure that you will enjoy Chain Link Pro. The gameplay is a little more challenging in the way that you have to link shapes together as your chain gets longer (kind of like in Snake). There are three game modes- my favorite is the one that is similar to Operation because you can't touch certain shapes or you lose a life during making a chain. If you like a real challenge, you can play on hard difficulty. If you want a more relaxing gameplay, you can choose easy mode. I almost forgot to mention that the physics engine is amazing, one of the best I have seen yet on the iDevice. I like to bounce the shapes off the sides of screen into the goal. All in all, Chain Link Pro is an addictive fast passed game that is beautiful to look at. I can easily recommend this title being that I have found no flaws whatsoever.
Thanks to all for the great reviews! With over 1800 different users on our top player online leaderboard and priced at only 99 cents, give this game a try if you haven't yet, you won't be disappointed!
Well, I have to say, my mr (sammysin) got me into this when it first came out, when it was free to download. Wow, so addictive. I see myself laying in bed some night just playing this, over watching TV or actualy going online, which is something I have to say! Not that I'm as good as him, because honestly I can never, ever beat him! But I got a pretty good score, ranked in the top 10 for static, and god knows where for normal mode haha! Best way to play this game in short: 1 very fast precise index finger, getting rid of all strays, linking up all matching shapes, and most importantly, keeping powerups such as the metamorph and the spiral thingi one rather than using them willy nilly! GREAT job on this game, not many games after doodle jump have got me completely addicted!
