I'd love to see Deathsmiles get an HD version, and if a Kickstarter would actually lead to Cave doing it right and producing DS 2 the same way for iOS, that would be fantastic. :)

  2. Well, I for one would love Deathsmiles hd with icade support too. Hope it comes one day cause cave shmups used to be my favorite shmups, but now that I have an icade core, games like Danmaku 2 and Phoenix hd are getting far more love. That and metal slug x, raiden legacy, and blazing star.

Even though i like cave games better, lack of joystick support is causing me to like the others better.

  3. Well, I think you got your answer, no.

I only have an iphone 4. Black label runs a bit more sluggish on my iphone compared to the regular bug princess 2, probably cause of the more intense bullet patterns.

Will talk about black label more in my following post. Here is a screenshot from my iphone 4.

  4. Well, bought Bug Princess 2 Black Label, so now I have all Cave games and also have 2 bp2s.

Comparing orig vs black label (bl),

Bl is much better generally cause of the more intense bullet patterns, other than that the game is fairly the same, same graphics, music, and gameplay.

For experts, bl is definitely better. For novices though, the orig maybe better cause of less bullets so it maybe easier and less frustrating. Also on my iphone 4, bl seemed a little more sluggish due to the extra bullets, the orig runs totally smooth. Bl runs ok, but a little more laggy.

Played bl on my iphone 4, new ipad, and hdmi tv. Plays great on all, slight lags on iphone 4.

Runs great on my new ipad, runs even better on hdmi tv with soundbar pumping max music. As pictured.

Generally, would recommend buying bl over the orig except maybe for beginning players. Bl mode has a boss mode too which some may like, but the implementation of it is kinda weak with a kinda day timer (one free play per day) and it doesn't get hard enough quickly for me. It is cool that the boss mode has bosses from bp1, so if you don't have bp1, that is more incentive to buy bl.

Bl also has more inapps that aren't really necessary, but kinda bothersome in some ways, so the orig is better in that way, that it feels more like an arcade game.

The main question seems to be, if you had the orig, is bl worth the extra $7?

Well, that's a tough one. Essentially the game is the same. Boss mode is cool, but not that great, and with only one free play a day, it's not a gamebreaker. The main difference seems to be the bullet patterns and scoring.

I find the bullet patterns in bl much more exciting, even more bullet hell, and the way the bullets are streamed seems to be better. That said, for some people, this maybe a minor difference, and really may not be worth $7 for most players of bp2.

So I would say if you already own the orig, and still want to buy bl, ask yourself this, are you a harcore bullet hell shmuper? If your answer is yes, then buy bl. If not, it probably ain't worth your money.

For me, I am a shmup and bullet hell fan, so it was worth it for me. But now that I have bl, probably the orig will be deleted off my new ipad soon, anyway, I think the decision to buy bl if you already have the orig is a fine line. Kinda depends how hardcore of a shmuper you are.

    Hope this helps.
