I don't know anything about pants, but I can confirm that it is a great game and at $2.99 it is quite a bargain. I was lucky enough to get to beta test Casey's Contraptions. I spent a fair amount of time breaking up fights between my three kids over who got to take the next turn with Casey's. If things got out of hand I would have to wrestle the iPad away from them so that I could I could I get a chance to play, err, TEST Casey's myself. I normally just lurk here, but this game was just so much fun, it was worth registering to post about it. Aaron
Just great ! I have been following Noel's tiny information releases about Casey for a long time now and it looks as they totally meet any wild expectation! The game looks awesome and as programmer myself, I can recognise the amount of efford and attention to detail that was put into this one. Kudos to both the creators, it really exposes how much you love what you do! All the best!!
Insta-buy for me I was a huge fan of The Incredible Machine back in the day, and have been following the development of both Miguel and Noel for some time. Great work guys, and I hope you a very successful! Cheers, Stu
This will definitely be an insta-buy for me! In my opinion there need to be way iPad games like this. I love all these physics/puzzlers coming out lately. I've been waiting for storm In a teacup to come out for ages, And it's coming out the same day as this, I'm going to feel like a kid at Christmas trying to decide which toy to play with first! Loving the look of this game, and loving the fact that it's indie, AND the fact that you barely wear pants makes me want it EVEN MORE haha! Can't wait to play it, unfortunately it'll probably be Friday in Australia before it comes out Thursday night if I'm lucky! Is there a specific time ?
Thanks! The only reason you're loving the pants thing is because you're not around us. Trust me on that one. As for the time of release, you're in luck. You get to play the game before 90% of the rest of the planet Earth! It'll become available at midnight of Wednesday going into Thursday (at your local time). So you'll get to play it before Europe or the US. Your own personal preview! Have fun with it and don't hesitate to post some feedback because we're going to be doing some big updates.
Level editor All right, we have one more day to wait, so I figured I would share some more details on another really cool aspect of Casey's Contraptions: The built-in level editor. Apart from playing through the initial 72 levels (and sharing solutions and viewing your friends' solutions), you can also build your own contraptions from scratch with the editor included in the game (under "My Contraptions"). This is the same editor we used to make all the levels in the game. The main screen of the editor should look very familiar already. It's almost identical to the main game screen (except for the "under construction" stripes on the sides, get it?) Things get different when you go to the editor menu. There you can customize your level and get it ready to share it with your friends. In the first screen, you can change which background you want for your contraption. You can choose from one of the ones from the different locations, but only of the ones you've unlocked so far. You can also change the name your contraption right from this screen as well. In the next screen, you get to choose which items will be available to for the player to solve the contraption. So you just drag whichever items you want from the bottom toolbox to the top one. And of course, you can have multiples of each item. Again, the only items available are the ones you've unlocked so far by playing the game. Once you've done that, you need to test your level. Unless you test it and successfully get all 3 stars, you won't be able to share it. Can you imagine how frustrating it would be to get a contraption from someone that can't be solved? After testing it, you can finally share the email and send it to all your friends. They will get that email, including a screenshot of the contraption. If they have Casey's Contraptions installed in their iPad, they can tap on the image and contraption will be automatically imported into their game. Pretty easy, uh? Right now you can only share levels directly through email, but we'll soon add other options to that (Facebook, GameCenter, etc). In the meanwhile, here's a tip: You can copy the link in the email and paste it anywhere. So nothing is stopping you guys from sharing crazy levels here in the TouchArcade forums. I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
Yes, we'll definitely release an iPhone/iPod Touch version. Not sure about the date yet. Maybe in around a month or so (a lot will depend on how quick the Apple approval process it).
This is as good a time as any to inform you guys Noel is horrible with time estimates. He told me I would have pants to wear months ago!
Already for sale in NZ And New Zealanders got the app first. Already selling on their App Store, a good 18 hours or so before it goes for sale in the US!
Well, don't wait. Is for sale now around the world http://itunes.apple.com/app/caseys-contraptions/id399408335?mt=8
