that last star is proving to be quite the tricky little bugger to get it's definitely a fun little game and like I've said before even the simplistic look and style of it has a charm and appeal of it's own. right now it does however feel like it's missing something. for me it's game modes. another one or two game modes would make the game feel more whole in my opinion and maybe even some unlockables? how about adding other element to the game/levels. other kinds of traps/hazards perhaps. maybe water, fire etc? or how about a glue effect that would make cado stick in place for a while enabling you to rotate without him falling off? could make some nice gameplay with that I think. what about paint/colours. you could have a red door for example that would only open if cado has been colored red which would be achieved by rolling thru some red paint. just throwing some ideas out there..
Sent an email to you. This game looks very clean yet very polished and well-thought out. I hope I can help.
Great Music! I think it's nice and relaxed; perfect for immersing the player into a groove zone in which to play CADO. I'm impressed.
Great fun! I've played it both on the iPhone/iPod and iPad now - completing about half the game. The controls are spot on. The levels reload really fast (great job!). Actually, sometimes they load so fast that the last move is still registered and Cado falls off ;-) I do like playing it on the iPad. Sometimes game controls don't translate well, but in Cado's case, the arrows to move Cado seem to be in the right location, and the extra real estate on the iPad is nice ;-) I am glad the controls are arrows. At first I thought "why not tilt", but the more I play, the more the controls seem to be the right choice. I don't think you could be as precise as you need to be using tilt. One suggestion might be to have the time displayed for each level after you complete it (with the star or without) and a summary page showing level times. I wouldn't have a timer running - I like that there doesn't seem to be pressure to get it within a certain time, and appreciate the level resets so quickly to try again. The summary page now shows overall time played, but not individual levels. Expect that was by design, but it may be a nice option to see the level times. Adding a portal might be neat (unless I haven't gotten to that). You could end up sending Cado into some interesting challenges. Great game, challenging but fun.
@Nicodemus82 Those are some pretty good ideas, we'll definitely take them to consideration We appreciate your input! @Sharontung66 I'm glad you like the music! We've actually released it for download, so if you'd like to have it, you can get it here: http://soundcloud.com/clearcut-games/cado-main-theme/ We're all using it on our phones, as makes a neat ringtone too @Secondtime Thanks for the feedback! We spent a lot of time on the controls, trying out different concepts, and the arrows are definitely the one we've liked best so far, so I'm glad you like it too . Regarding timing, I think we might end up doing something like that. Whether that be in the summery, or just once you finish a level. Could you elaborate a bit on your portal idea? Do you mean like adding other areas with other themes?
Other areas and themes would be great, but what I meant was more of an idea within one level. A portal/door which, when entered, would deposit you on another part of the playing surface on that level. It would need to be "close" to the same orientation, but could be pretty challenging if Cado were set on a slope where you had to react quickly. (You could perhaps set it so the star had to be gained by going through the portal/door, but you could solve it if you avoided it, too.) Another thought: You could combine the idea - the portal sends you to another level/area where the star actually is, get the star and return to the original level to exit.
@Secondtime That's a neat idea. We are brainstorming new features and mechanisms for our level packs, and something like that would definitely come in handy for new designs Thanks for the input!
