When i hear what are popular during a period from my friends or someone else, i check them out and probably download. But i'm very likely not to play every one of them because i don't have enough time or i'm hooked on some for a period having forgotten the rest. So there are many games on my iPhone and iPod that i haven't played for even a single minute.
Sometimes I buy some at the same time, and then try every one at first time to find the most attractive ones. Later i'll just keep playing them ignoring the rest.
I have too many games that I sometimes don't even know if I own a particular game or not. I don't think I have played more than 10% of my collection mainly because I have this solid rule about completing a game fully before starting a new one of the same genre. Dumb rule I know.
I guess I have pretty good self control when it comes to actually buying paid games (even though I still want to buy all the time). I think since I got my iPod touch in December, I've only bought ~15 apps (including non-game apps). I've gotten way better control now with free apps. There's just too many free games, and I used to download way too many of them. Within the past few weeks, I've been trying out and deleting a lot of apps and actually got down to maybe "only" ~50 games left on my ipod touch (games that I know I wanna keep). I even deleted a bunch of apps from my iTunes on my computer. Of course, 2 of the games that I bought (Plants v. Zombies & Battlehearts) I find it hard to keep my attention even though they're fun.
The thread reminds I am kinda ridiculous that buying games instantly when it's out and play it right away, whereas after 5-8 minutes I may lose patience. To play it or not, it's up to twitter search result. If many results mentioned about I will consume much more time on it. If not, may never touch it. Personally feel that many people are in this way too. It definitely proved that piles of games kept on iTunes will be cleared out someday you just fed up of those useful-useless games stuffing your computer.
I've just been sorting out my itouch, and found that I bought a game named Egg War but never played it. Feel pity for this game and my money.
I usually buy a particular game if im intrigued and then play for a while. If i got no more interest, i delete it. So there are few ones i haven't played on my iDevice.
