Not really, 'cause I'm not fighting for either side... I own all three and fully admit all of their pros and cons. Some people just like to exaggerate and it's ridiculous, if these points were as really vast as they make out the console would have just flopped at the beginning.
Is this fact or one of those facts that a kid with a 360 and no more money "finds" on an official document that erupts into flames seconds after he sees it?
It's a fact. It has it's internal hardware configured different, & if it gets overheated, it will shut down with no damage. And if I currently had a 360. I would be playing RDR(which is multiplatform) & cheap(10-30) games from 05-08. Not chatting about this.
It still suffers the same problems, they are just shown in a different way. The chances are the likelihood of getting the problems of RRoD have been decreased and I think the new methods of explaining it are better...
All the evidence so far points to the problem being remedied. The CPU and GPU are now integrated into a single chip, allowing for the need for just one heatsink instead of two, which drastically reduces failure rate. Also, there's one giant fan instead of two that pulls in much more air for cooling while being much, much quieter. Plus, the 360 actively monitors whether it's cool enough and will automatically shut itself down if it's not. I think that's evidence enough that the failure rate of the 360 will be much, much closer to that of the PS3. Only time will tell, but it looks good so far.
In all honesty I think they're both great platforms, but I would get whatever your friends had because thats where your fun would come from. Single player is fine, but if you want to get the most out of your game ($60 for a new game, almost a quarter of the console itself!) you need to play online with your friends.
The CPU and GPU are managed as one, which appears to make a difference. And the Xbox shuts down if overheated, meaning the motherboard won't get fried and screw up the soldered parts. But if it's any consolation, it literally can RROD because there are no actual rings...
Lots of replies to that question I'm still gonna leave it a while just in case something else crops up, but I'll likely update eventually. If it shuts down due to overheating I hope that doesn't just mean it'll be turning off every 2 hours.
I left mine on for around five transferring content between consoles (I need a bigger flash drive, didn't want to pay for the transfer cable ) and it was fine. Disk usage might change that, but hey, when you have 250 GBs, you can install a whole lot of games to the drive. (Apparently it can still be quite noisy when a disk is in use according to Engadget, unfortunately; haven't tried it myself yet... Luckily there's a lot of space to fill on the drive for game installation.)
