Okay I'm not trying to start a console debate here, but the latest home console I have is the Gamecube, which sucks pretty bad (most of my home gaming is done on my N64 haha), and it's time for me to finally upgrade. Basically I just want to know which one you guys think would be the best to get and if now is a good time to buy. I honestly don't know which one, they both have their pros and cons and I don't even know if now is the best time to buy one. Basically I'm pretty lost when it comes to the current generations and I need your help.
I've had both, and while I like some xbox exclusives, I really like the PS3 exclusives more. Also, the PS3 has free online and in my opinion, a more comfortable controller. Not to mention the ROD, which is why I no longer own one, but apparently the new xboxes are immune to that.
I'd say you should get PS3. You get to play online for free vs around $5 a month for Xbox Live. PS3 has the better exclusives (I can make a list ). And PS3 has a built in Blu-ray player and is 3D compatible already. And they're also releasing a premium service called Playstation Plus, which is a little more than $4, but you get a TON of free stuff including free PSN games and discounts on stuff you purchase from the PSN Store. Playstation Move looks like fun too, and more accurate than the Wii. So you can wait for an Xbox owner to tell you Xbox... By the way I didn't list ALL of the features but the more important ones.
I definitely think the PS3 is the better system and the better value overall but the problem is all my friends have the 360 and I want to play with them.
Yah, the PS3 has better value overall... but the issue was that the PS3 came out a year later and started out so expensive that everyone bought Xbox 360's... I find buttons with shapes easier to use than letters also
You're a smart one heman EDIT: yeah donovan I know what you mean now that they lowered the price significantly it's a really good deal but it was after all my friends had xboxs so idk I'm gonna have to sacrifice features for friends or vice versa is what it comes down to.
I'd get the 360 over the PS3. Yes, it'll cost you for Live, but personally I love the xbox controller over PS3, and Arcade games are awesome. Also, playing with friends makes it even better.
I here the story a lot from people you got an Xbox 360 and then it broke... then went and bought a PS3 and loved it. All of my friends have Xbox's too... but the games are what really matter in the end.
That's more what I'm leaning toward. I mean I like the ps exclusives more and the free online and bluray is nice but the xbox is still really nice and playing with my friends is probably worth the extra five dollars a month for live compared to free on playstation.
I have an Xbox 360. Overall the PS3 destroys it in every way. Games, hardware, overall costs, etc. Except for one thing. If you have lots of friends with 360s and few with PS3s then I'd say go 360. Friends are 90% of the reason I play video games. Playing single player or multiplayer by myself only lasts a bit. Playing with friends lasts much longer and is much more fun.
It is already out. Go for it. PS3 is going to charge within the year for online. Not saying PS3 is bad. But, I love the xbox so much more. I'd rather just play the psp GOWs. Saint's Row. Viva Piñata. Dead Rising. Alan Wake. Mass Effect. Fable. Gears of War. Halo.

Oh yeah I already know the PS3 exclusives are waaay better than the xbox but like da shiz was saying I only have like two friends with PS3s and a ton with 360s so I think I'm gonna get the 360. Should I go with the new elite, the pro or what?
The new slim version... you get a smaller version for the same price (Although imo even uglier than the original)
