Interesting, thanks for the ideas ;)... although I was always under the impression that badges and trophies were less liked then interesting art or other things... seems like you'd have less motivation to unlock them.

Definitely interested in knowing what kind of achievements people like the most, and in what instances are you most likely to complete them (for example is it more because you like the game, you want to show off, or because the actual achievements are cool and interesting to unlock)?

I believe it should be a mix of both (though I think the game being awesome won't be a problem ;)). I personally like the idea of the "art or other things" as motivation.

However, I was thinking of adding on the badges/trophies in addition to the "art/etc." so you can still show off you're achievements. Mainly I was thinking more of a multiplayer-esque idea, like xbox/playstation/pc stats that you can show off. Something like fps COD or BC2 stats with the badges/pins/avatar but on the itouch/ipad. I haven't seen anything like this yet... though it sounds like another social system for B-heroes... just an idea (also if there are enough customs than it might work?)

No guarantees of course, but we'll definitely add it to the idea/"things to think about" list, thanks :)

Anyone else have any ideas about what kinds of things they like to see as achievements?

Wanted to post another little update and share some of the enemies (of which there are over 20 completely different types in the game) -- i'll post new ones every couple of days. As always, we welcome feedback, suggestions and questions.

Here are some achievements I thought of or remember from other games (general ones like scores or areas unlocked):
    # of unit killed (per type) "assault like"
    # of support kills (finished off an enemy due to damage froom another unit) "support"
    # of one shot kills "sniping"
    amount food collected "king maker"
    Longest lasted in endless
    amount scored in each category
    distance traveled
    areas unlocked
    rank achieved

Will there be any online interaction? (scores or multiplayer)

Thanks! We are definitely trying to add as much variety and depth as possible without making the game too complicated (lots of enemy types, tons of quests, randomized waves, 3 heroes, etc) ;)

And thanks again Wired for the suggestions... we actually already have most of those in place ;) But then some of them just wouldn't really work for Bug Heroes.

As for online we will have multiple ladders for different difficulties and different levels.

Another often understated but commonly asked for feature Bug Heroes will have is profiles. We will have separate profiles and separate saves for each level (so you can have basically multiple, separate game saves for each profile).

    No problem! :)

Also love the multiple profile/save feature!

Got another question for anyone willing to chime in....

Would you rather have visual armor upgrades unlocked on a game by game basis (i.e. you would always start with no armor, and as you gained levels in individual games you would gain armor pieces)...

    or

Have persistent armor pieces unlocked permanently on your character based on the amount of cumulative time played as each character?

    Doing nothing of importance.
    Somewhere
Definitely for the former. Almost any gamer would agree that visible equipment is much more fun to use than the invisible kind. As long as you have a defense stat (seeing as this is part RPG), the second option doesn't even need to be considered. That could be your persistant armor.

Wait.. Both methods you would actually get visual upgrades (they're not actual armor pieces that represent better statistical armor per se, but simply more bits and pieces on your character that make them look more awesome and tough).

What I meant was, would you rather earn those visual upgrades every time you play using the in game leveling up to unlock them (which are reset everytime you start a new game), or be required to earn a cumulative amount of experience for each character (using permanent character ranks) to permanently unlock those same visual upgrades for each character one at a time?

Sigh I hope that makes sense... its harder to explain then I thought :p

I think the reset might be better for in-game difficulty/replayability (the first one). I like o see progression throughout the level. However, I also like the idea of keeping the upgrades (sense of accomplishment...) this is difficult to say... wish there was a way to have a mix of both...

Cool, I think that's what we were leaning towards. With all the achievements, unlockable equipment, and the enemy dictionary there is probably enough stuff to permanently unlock in the long term as it is :)

    And another enemy...

Just don't ever let it happen again! :p

Seriously though, that sounds brutal... definitely good luck.

And here is a character portrait this time -- one of your heroes.

One of the most vicious enemies in Bug Heroes... cute and sleepy in the day, on the prowl at night. They are actually more of an environmental hazard then an enemy (a hazard that can be used for or against you as this kitten will devour anything that wanders -- or is purposefully knocked -- too close).
