Yeah, I'm definitely not classifing this one as just another dual stick shooter. You guys always come up with some crazy and original concepts... Gotta love that. Not too often these days you get a dev with this much originality. Yeah, I know that feeling. Every time I see a zombie game that doesn't look like yet another casual game (although, admittedly, I'll get caught up by those too, like Zombie Highway), I'm intrigued. In fact, there's another 2 zombie games that I'm following right now. A good game is a good game, and zombies will always be a fun enemy to kill, no matter how overdone they are. I HATE when devs do that. I've seen it plenty of times, where a dev puts something like "3D First Person Dual Stick Castle Defense Shooter With RPG Elements" and crap like that. It's incredibly annoying, and just makes an app look cheap.
Sorry for the recent silence, we are really trying to push for beta ready. We just have a few more effects and bug fixes. I know we keep saying that >_< but something seems to come up every time we are right about to officially go into beta. We've been hard at work on this game for a while so there is no point in rushing it now I hope to get the beta ball rolling soon though... we are really eager to actually get it in players hands and get some real feedback.
Thanks Unfortunately its been taking a bit longer then expected to roll beta out :/ But I think we're a week or 2 removed now, for real this time Release will definitely be sometime this year, and will really depend on how smooth beta goes. The reason why its taking longer to get to beta then we figured is because we decided to finish up a few more things going into it, so beta will really be a beta and not an alpha. For those waiting for beta... not much longer....
The first round MIGHT only be for upper gen devices (3GS+), while we wrap up a few more lower gen (iphone 3G, ipod touch 2G) optimizations. But rest assured, we are fully supporting lower gen devices and working hard to make it highly playable on those devices in time for release As we get close to beta, I'd just like to see everyone's opinions on how betas are handled. Which way do you prefer to give your feedback? Through a developer beta forum? Through a private TA group? Through email?
I hope with rounds you don't mean that people only get to test for one round. Because the fact is, testing like that sucks. On how to give feedback: Please make a TA group or a beta forum. Through email doesen't work as well (unless we're talking about google groups, wich effectivly is a forum), because via email you can't see others oppinions/comments/thoughts/....
I would prefer a private TA group so that beta-testers can discuss among themselves without having to register on a new forum.
Don't worry the testers won't be limited to just one round, but we will be adding new players every x amount of time for fresh perspectives. We need to make sure we have fresh players to test major balance changes. I do agree with a TA group/beta forum as the best option, however what we found with N.Y.Zombies was that people seem to be much more likely to give feedback when specifically prompted in emails. That is how we ended up getting most of our valuable feedback last time... We'll probably do both email and a TA group this time, and I'll probably just copy/paste relevant emails into the forum for everyone to see/discuss.
Well for some of my betas i have done fourms and email. I think they are both effective. In a fourm a group helps decide on big ideas and everyone feels good. Through email you can help with what you think, small things, and you know you are being listened to because it is a 1 on 1 conversation!
We'll announce the official start of beta hopefully sometime later this week At that time we'll give you all the info you need to apply.
