Brits of the forums, the election is fast approaching and I was wondering who you guys are planning to vote for?
And also, who do you think will win? (or will we end up with a hung parliament?)

I was going to vote for the Green party, but since the Lib Dem's actually seem to have a slight chance now (or are at least going to win a whole bunch of new seats) I'll most probably vote for them. Although I fear we are going to end up with a hung parliament

They're all as useless as eachother so I wont vote. What we need is a good dictatorship because a democracy can never work, people are idiots and are easily fooled into believing crap. If you had a good dictatorship, one where the leaders cared, then you'd have the best result.

Too many human rights these days and tbh humans aren't the only species on the planet. Thanx to Human rights we're cutting down the Amazon rainforest at an alarming rate and killing off many species we wont even know about. Frigging people are living in the rainforests and cutting it all down just so they can live. However they're shagging and having kids and their kids will be doing the same when they're older. So really they're only alive to destroy it.

So whose to say they should be alive? We should wipe them all out and protect. A few million is nothing compared to the rest of the population and how fast it is growing. The planet can't sustain the numbers anyways and we'll soon have to sort the population crisis out.

Bring in a dictatorship that takes no shit and does what is best for the planet and everything living on it.

Check out the new Ross Kemp programme on the Amazon, gives a pretty insightful look into the situations there from both perspectives. The thing you seem to assume is that the loggers living there like and want to cut down trees. That's hardly the case. They do it to survive and put food on the table, if they could find other work they would.

Although I agree something eventually needs to be done about the population, it's not exactly a major issue in this election.

If you're not going to vote because you want a dictatorship, then perhaps you should start thinking up some masterful social action plan to incite a revolution, I don't really see Britain converting to one any other way.
    Or you could move.

A dictatorship would work about 1 out of ever 700 leaders. The best form of government is a democracy, the Greeks did it, the Romans did it, most of Europe now does it, and most of America does it. The most influential nations that have ever existed have had a democracy. On to your point about us destroying habitats, I agree, but I don't think it's a matter of rights, because a lot of that is being done illegally. I do believe that we should put a complete stop to the deforestation of the rain forest, but I don't think we need a dictatorship to do that. As for our population, it will probably sort itself out. There's always AIDS, the Flu, Malaria and hundreds of other diseases, not to mention the inventions we come up with to deal with them (DDT and other pesticides/herbicides) that eventually end up killing us with cancer.

I think you should take a look at this study: http://www.greatchange.org/footnotes-overshoot-st_matthew_island.html
Scientists put reindeer on St. Matthews Island, gave them no predators and they eventually got so populated that the just crashed and died out. Pretty much what will happen to us.

I can't stand people who care too much about politics instead of just getting on with shit, so for that reason I won't be voting. It's not so much the parties I hate, they're all as bad as each other and if a good one happens to come along it'll be pure luck and a good team rather than what they actually stand for.

In my constituency it's a race between labour, green and conservative. I don't want labour in again and the greens can't get into power so I am voting tori.

(Disclaimer: I am not a citizen of the UK. I am an American.)
First, I think you were supposed to keep you sense of humor (or humour) while reading Scaramoosh's post, which I refuse to believe was meant to be taken seriously. (Reading his idea of a concerned and benevolent dictator, though, it occurred to me that you guys should opt for having a queen or something...)
Anyway, a legitimate question here: Do you think Brown doomed Labour, or were they headed out anyway?

1 in 700? Try never? We're all humans, driven by the same forces. We're gonna get corrupted at one point or another. We've only read about incorruptable people in books because they just don't happen in reality.

This is true. 1 in 700 leaders are definitely not equipped to be dictators. I mean honestly, who is equipped to justly rule over others? Pretty much nobody.

Well as a whole, Labour's rule has been crap IMO. Brown wasn't the sole contributing factor that doomed Labour, but he was the straw that broke the camel's back.
So it was his fault, but only because Blair sucked too. If Labour had been awesome before him, he might not have seemed so bad.

I doesn't matter who you vote for. Greece is just a flash point. Europe's finances may bring it down. No way to tax your way to solvency. In the U.S., we will be lucky if it's not too late.

    Didn't vote, as promised :)
I don't really care who gets in, people are always going to complain about the government no matter what, and I'm just glad I'm not partly responsible for giving them the seats.

I'm 8 months too young to vote, but I'd vote for the liberal democrats.
I don't really care much anyway, as soon as I'm old enough (and have enough qualifications), I'm fleeing this country. I have nearly always hated England and I can't wait to escape to another EU country. I'm thinking maybe Germany, Italy or Cyprus :p

I love my country. I will live my life, die and be buiried in England. The lack of national pride shown by alot of people in England truly saddens me.

Well I used to be like you, in fact I wanted to join the Army.
But as I've grown older I have realised what a crappy country (IMO) we live in. Many of my friends at college share the same opinion as me, and yes it is sad, but true. I would go into detail but typing is hard with one finger - my other arm is broken.
