    About time. BP fails
I do have a question though. Why would they name it "Top Kill"? It reminds me of Top Gun...

How does it take someone 6 weeks to figure out pumping down mud and cement is a good idea?

Disgusting - This is what they should have done from the very beginning, but BP was more concerned about saving the well than preventing the damage they have caused

f**k all of them. Another company is about to start drilling offshore in the arctic, one of the few pristine places left on the planet. The government asked them to not do it, but the government also gave them the thumbs up before the Gulf oil spill. Despite the nightmare it could (and lets be honest, probably will) cause, they're going through with it $$

Also, this spill hasn't been stopped yet. it's only been slowed down. that's good, though, because it should make it easier to stop now. They've apparently tried this method before, with poor results.

You can assume their priority here is to save the well, not the water. If it takes a year to stop it completely, but saves the well, BP will be completely okay with that.

They've said from the beginning that the ultimate goal was to seal the well off completely. Within a week they began drilling relief wells to intercept the original well to plug it up.

They've had this plan from the beginning. First they wanted to attempt to stop the flow by using the blowout valve, but the device was broken and they were unsuccessful. While they prepared for the 'Top Kill' maneuver, they used the box and 'Top Hat' to siphon off oil from the leak. These solutions had been used successfully for other oil spills; believe it or not, oil spills have been happening since its discovery. While they prepared the 'Top Kill' idea, they also obtained supplies to attempt other ideas in case of failure, including the junk shot. The problem here was the depth that the well was at. A mile underwater, there is extreme pressure and freezing temperatures, making this problem very unique.

BP has said they are going to continue to drill the relief wells to plug the main well even if they are successful with the Top Kill and enshrining the well head in cement.

The problem I have is, why did they allow the well if there was no sure solution to stop the flow of oil in case of a problem like this? What will happen if we have to same problem with a well that is even deeper?

Funny how most of that board are male, then again most power hungry leaders/companies are

enough hasn't been done, and it's a shame these things are becoming the norm.

Everyone should switch to hybrid cars, smart cars, etc.

It's sad to see a company that supports intoxicating gas, then decides to drill on the ocean floor. And guess what? A shetload of things that look like crap spew everywhere and the little whales die :|...

Did you even read the article? Nothing to 'lol' at.

    Anyways,

"Saturday was the 40th day since the Gulf Oil disaster occurred, and even in the best-case scenario under by the government's estimate, at least 18 million gallons of oil has leaked thus far. In the worst case scenario, that figure could exceed 40 million gallons of oil."

    Jesus Christ...........
