Balance is a free puzzle game about electricity and power grids. Your goal is to make sure there are no blackouts, that the power grids are functional, and that you always produce the right amount of power. The game offers many challenges you probably never thought about: - Did you know that the amount of power produced is changed all day and night to match the amount we use? - Did you know that there is a limit on how much power you can transmit through a single power line without it getting overloaded? - Did you know that an well-built power grid could have any one line disconnected without causing blackouts? You do not need any knowledge about electricity or power grids in order to enjoy this game. Balance is developed by Statnett, the system operator in the Norwegian energy system, and is based on real challenges they work with every day. Interestingly, Stattnet are laying a very long electric cable from Norway to UK for this purpose. I'll excuse them that though as it's an entertaining game and also has educational value. mzinn Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2014 770 0 16 #5 mzinn, Apr 20, 2016 Surprisingly fun puzzle game. y2kmp3 Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2010 1,784 3 38 #6 y2kmp3, Apr 22, 2016 Last edited: Apr 24, 2016 I agree that this is a fun game overall, but I am also mad that the timer for 3 stars in the last level (level 36) is impossible to beat. The reason is that you are given only 1 minute to build a complex power grid and have to adjust 2 power stations 4 times over the course of the level. The first 6 seconds is wasted because you are constantly bugged by pop-up messages, during which you can't do anything but the timer stills counts down. It is clear that the timer limit is completely unfair. PS: The same is almost true for level 34. For both levels 34 and 36, you actually have to get the progress bar moving before you even complete your build so that you can save a few precious seconds. No other levels need to do this, and the timers for the levels are very generous by comparison. aresundnes Active Member Sep 16, 2016 26 4 3 Creative Director Oslo, Norway #7 aresundnes, Sep 16, 2016 Thanks for your feedback Hey guys! I'm one of the developers of this game, and just wanted to say that we're working on improvements and new levels for the game. We're also planning a sort of sandbox-mode where you can design your own puzzles and share with friends. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions!
