As many of you may remember the thread I posted a long time ago in regards to 3.0 and the slow initial back-up, the same thing has happened yet again with the jump to 3.1. It's been backing up for the past 3 hours and is only 25% done. When upgrading to 3.0, I let it back up for more than 24 hours and it never reached past 80% (which it got to in a matter of 10 minutes). From people who have waited it out with the 3.0 upgrade back up, how long did it take before it finally finished? Did it even finish? Are you now having the same trouble with 3.1?
If you back it up every night it is much faster, how long has it been since you synced? If I am jailbroken, I have to wait for a new jailbreak to upgrade, correct?
took my 16GB ipod touch 3 hours to finish to backup. I normally always cancel it as I don't have the patience but sometimes maybe once a week let it backup. Usually takes probably 20 mins or so to backup 6GB worth of data but why 3 hours when doing an OS upgrade is beyond me. My other ipod touch 8GB went extremely fast but then again I had hardly any apps on it.
That sucks, vood. For those who haven't upgraded yet, I'm thinking backing up your device just before upgrading to 3.1 would help. I could be wrong though.
I back-up and sync nearly every night. This same thing happened when I upgraded to 3.0 like I had mentioned. After a day of messing with it, the end result was a 3.0 upgrade and a restore with all my saved game data deleted. So I think I'm going to wait this one out. It's frustrating that things like this occur.
