It's fair isn't it? I paid some $80+ here in Australia and have finished the game. They released this one like 5 or 6 years after the PC version and then they expect fans like me to pay another 10 bucks for the exact same game but with mucho loading times? Sorry if you don't like me ranting about it, but what would you feel if you bought this game (iphone version) for $50 and then they release it again on a console that you own for $10 but giving it some extras, you will buy it again now won't you? But in this case they don't give you any extras, so why bother buying it?
I'm upset because I love the prince of persia trilogy (haven't bought forgotten sands yet) and I do want to play it on iPhone, but since they don't give any extras, that's why I don't want to buy it and what makes me even more upset is the fact that this game, which on the PC version was phenomenal for its short loading times and only on the beginning of the game, has been made into a game with lots of loading times.

Is that too much to take in?

well, money don't grow on trees. I have mortgage to pay.

Having played both, I find PoP:WW infinitely better. PoP is, in my opinion, the best game on the iPhone so far.

I don't even see any way that I could favorably compare the AC iPhone game to the PoP iPhone game.

Actually, I find it almost impossible tonunderstand why iPhone gamers are not jumping all over PoP as the first real, fully fleshed out, actual console experience on the device. PoP should be at the top of the charts.

I just don't really get your arguments. Games are frequently potted without extras and yes the company charges for the ports--if you buy the Xbox version you don't get the Playstation version free, and if you buy the playstation version you aren't given the psp version free.

Ten dollars for the game on iPhone is ver fair. If you don't feel like playing the game again because you've played it before, then don't buy it, but that doesn't make the price unfair.

As to the loading--the game has a short load when it first starts, then has intermittent very, very short loads as large environments are entered--there are absolutely no long loading times and the intermittent loads (on the 3GS) are short enough to practically be non-existent (less than 2 seconds). The fact that the game runs this great on a phone us amazing.

I just feel disappointed is all and I played the game on my friend's iPhone 3G. And those loading times are over 2 seconds. If you like playing it on iPhone, you should try playing it on PC.

That's the million dollar question, right there! They screwed up splinter cell and now PoP.

I'm sorry yonkykun, but how exactly did Gameloft screw up PoP? By not making it exactly as good as the PC version? Is your argument really that inane?

The game is all there, the controls are all there. So it runs like crap on your friends 3G -- well, of course it does. The iPhone 3G is the least powerful iDevice and not designed to run 3D console-style games. On a 3Gs it runs at a constant 30 FPS, which is as good on my PSP. Were you really expecting it to be better than that?

The only people who think that Gameloft "screwed up" PoP are those whose hatred of Gameloft has become irrational.

I never said that. Read my previous posts mate, I clearly said that I hate the fact that they port the game "as is" and not give any extras. And to answer your question:
By not making it run on all iPhones and iPod Touches regardless of their gen. That's what being an iPhone developer is all about isn't it? Making a game that runs on all iDevices, this special attention is what separates good developers from the bad ones. I hate gameloft, yes, but only because of their PoP port. Iron man 2 loads longer in older gen iDevices but it plays wonderfully. If it were up to me, I would get rid of all the facial morphing and reduce the environment texture resolution even more as well as cut back on the drawing distance. I think gameloft is trying too hard to live up to Ubisoft's expectation that they don't give a damn about the playability. What makes PoP series so great is because once you have the game loaded up in your device's memory, the game streams textures, models, etc. seamlessly which helps the story flows beautifully. Making it stutter like this iPhone version with numerous loading times is what makes me hate Gameloft. What they should do is make a PoP game from zero. Even if they screw it up (Splinter Cell & Terminator Salvation) there is also a chance that they might do it right (Hero of Sparta).
Besides, if you don't care about my argument, why the hell do you have to defend gameloft?

You can't support the older devices for ever, that will really hold back iphone gaming, especially for 3d games. This is not a pc and cannot even be compared to one at all, considering they ported a console game to the iphone and it maybe has 4-5 short loading times per level that don't even affect gameplay, I'd say Gameloft did a fantastic job.

Oh well, whatever makes you happy, buddy. I'm done anyway. I'm looking forward to their Hero of Sparta II and really hope that it'll be better than the first one (which was great).

Hero of Sparta doesn't hold a candle compared to POP but that is just my opinion.

Of course not. But at least it plays well on iPhones. It's kinda like a pirated version of God of War, but that's fine, because it plays smoothly.

By your same argument however, Hero of Sparta II is a complete waste of money because it does not even have the same amount of content as GoW. So if you've bought GoW, there's no reason to buy Hero of Sparta, right? It's just more of the same with less weapons, right?
And see, that is the major flaw in your argument. You don't buy a game on the iDevice because it is better or has more than its console counterpart-you buy it because of the convenience and portability it offers. If you're on a crowded bus, it's pretty hard to whip out your PC and play some PoP, isn't it? But with the iPhone, you are able to play on a small 3 inch screen, which is efficient, portable, and convenient. That developers are creating such great games for such a tiny device is a testament to the developers' talent and will to push the boundaries of game on the App Store.

Seriously buddy? Even though Hero of Sparta is a GoW ripoff, doesn't mean they're the same game! Art wise, music wise, and gameplay wise they are different. PoP on iPhone and on PC or PS2 however is one and the same.

Major flaw in my argument, really? ROFL Why would I want to play a game that has a superior counterpart on PC on the iPhone? Playing a game that takes so much of your attention (for example, PoP) on a bus will only make you miss your stop.

That developers are creating such great games for such a tiny device is a testament to the developers' talent and will to push the boundaries of game on the App Store

LOL That's funny, you've just helped my argument. You are right, great developers create great games. But tell me, did Gameloft create PoP?

Lololololol Assassin's Creed was f*cking misery. Terrible voice acting, mindnumbing simple puzzles, where Altair THINKS OUT LOUD "Hmm, I should drop this crate to cause mischief!", a horrendous story (with a lousy ending), imprecise platforming, and god awful minigames.

Haven't played POP, but calling AC a masterpiece is pure and utter lunacy.

    Doing nothing of importance.

While I'll agree that Alatair's Chronicles wasn't a great game, I still enjoyed it. I can easily see why so many people hated it, but I found some entertainment in it.

Nonetheless, Prince of Persia is MUCH better. It's by far one of the best games on the AppStore, and I really don't see how you can even compare PoP to AC.

IGN can be extremely stupid at times. There's some reviews I agree with, but they go and ruin it by giving PoP a 6.9.

Hey keep in mind-when it first came out, there was nothing else like it. It was testing new waters, in a way. Now it seems outdated-but it set the bar for bigger and better things

IGN is idiotic, except for their console reviews. I use them and gamespot for console reviews, and on the whole, they agree on most things-IGN is usually a bit harsher. For reveiwing iPhone games though, IGN is the last place you should turn to
