Day/Night is doubtful -- seems like that would be a major change. One other way Aralon is like Morrowind/Oblivion is that you can do anything -- kill an NPC, rob a house, etc. I didn't get to try it, but there's an alignment system and you can very well become a criminal (which will get you in trouble with the authorities).
Wow! That's definitely good to hear (the do anything aspect)! I'd say that this is turning out to be pretty ambitious for an iPhone game, but that is DEFINITELY a good thing! If this game does well it will hopefully help to open the door for more like it.
I totally missed this discussion, been super busy working on the game and I've hardly checked the forums lately. The beta has gone well and it's really helped us fix some bugs and improve some of the gameplay. I'm focused right now on improving the terrain rendering and doing some general polishing of the user interface. As squarezero said, it is an action RPG, not turn based, but everything has internal timers, so it's not a case of just pushing the attack button as fast as you can. When you fight a creature you enter attack mode and will perform your basic attack automatically, but to win you will need to use your special abilities, spells, and items. So a warrior has power ups that add damage to his attacks, or stun the enemy, or make the enemy start to bleed (doing extrax damage over the course of several seconds), multiple opponent attacks, knockback abilities, etc. A rogue has stealth, and can gain great advantage by starting a fight with a surprise backstab, then following with a various special attacks to keep the enemy off balance. A ranger has stealth and the bow of course, and can also fight close range with swords and cast some spells too. They are a very versatile class. The mage is weaker in melee but gets the most powerful spells, the ability to freeze opponents, summon pets, and some damage shields to use if the enemy gets too close. Throw in potions and other magic items that you can use, and it makes for a pretty strategic combat system. I think the beta testers will agree that it is easy to get the hang of the different classes and figure out what suits your playing style. That's a "brief" overview of combat for each class
Whoa, that last one was a mega-post . . . As for the faction system, I am trying to emulate Morrowind/Oblivion where there are no rules forced on your character. You can attack and rob merchants, or even rob the bank if you're strong enough. You can become feared outlaw and slay all the city guardsmen you encounter if you want, but it will make some things more difficult There is only a couple of characters where killing them would actually prevent you from completing the game. I have added tons of unique quests to the game, some of which involve politics and intrigue, while others are your traditional fetch/kill type quests. Freedom is really the driving theme of the game: customize your character and explore an open world, or follow the game's "path" to its conclusion at your leisure.
WOW!!! Thank you very much for the mega update!! The more I hear about this game, the more excited I get. It's really looking like you have a gem of an app on your hands here, and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Looks a lot like Sherwood Dungeon (online game)...hopefully will be more in-depth than Sherwood, though. Sherwood was only about killing monsters...hopefully this will have bigger, more interesting worlds and monsters that aren't just clones of each other.
by the sounds of things, the graphics are all that could let this down. have you considered getting in extra people to help jazz it up a bit? i'd happily redo your ui for free, pm me if you're interested.
Yeah, it looks like this game has almost everything except the final polish. I think it would be worth your while to work on it as well, since, especially among iDevice gamers, first impressions are very important.
Yes, we were ready to submit to apple next week but we are going to pause for a couple days and assess our options based on the player feedback. I am already working on some enhancements to the UI and general polish. Beyond that, we'll take a hard look at the game and see what can be done to push it "over the top".
Love the look of the game. Looks as if this will be a home run for you guys. Do you think you will make another one?
@ipodrocks just try playing through the first one first! thats been keeping (kept?!?!) us testers busy for a while!
Yes, the game has a lot of content (roughly 20 hours gameplay). I'm sure I will make another game. I can't say for sure yet what that game will be. It may be Aralon 2, or possibly something else. . .
Yes it does, you can summon a pet as a mage to help you in battle. The dragon part I'm not so sure about but I do know that you can ride a horse!
Hello I'm not sure if these questions have been answered but i wanted to know two things about the game. Is there many different items to collect lie swords armies helmets etc. And my other question is when u equip those items do they change ur characters appearance. Like if you equip a different armor does the armor on ur character look different?
