Why do people think a week is a long time? If you were to publish a game for the PSP or DS, it would take months. First, Nintendo or Sony would spend a month or two with it. Then the ESRB would take their time with it. People are too spoiled!

I don't think most people here think a week is a long time in that respect. However as the norm has been roughly a week up until quite recently it is odd when Apple suddenly take 2-3 weeks to approve an app.

And, frankly, even 2-3 weeks would be OK if Apple did something to inform us about the current state. It could be as simple as issuing a slot in a virtual line of apps, giving an estimate of approval-date etc. At the moment Apple simply gives us an "In review" state which in theory could last forever...

The problem is with the microcommunity and the virtual downloads. The revenue earned is roughly based on the position in the charts.

Companies could face huge losses if Apple stalls on an approval even for a week, since this market is so quick moving.

Take a look at the app classics.
You see the shelf with the books?
Imagine those books, and the cover would be a cover of an app. You see a shelf full of apps, all catching your eye. You can go down isles and browse by type of games, no top list, just the apps staring back at you.
I think the apps would probably have some different payments...

Just had two updates get approved, yesterday and today. They'd been in for about 2.5 weeks each. So maybe things are starting to move.

Our latest update to Brain Blaze Spelling was submitted 05/29 and was approved 06/15, so 17 days for us. We are not complaining - just happy to have the update approved before 3.0 is released.

Underworlds 1.11 is at 20 days and counting right now. This is the 2nd submission, with the first failing after 10 days. So we are at a month for an update that fixes serveral crash bugs. Very frustrating.

I submitted a new app on June 3rd and am still waiting. I agree that they're probably backed up due to the need to test on both 2.2.1 and 3.0. Hopefully now that 3.0 is public, approval times will fall back to the normal 4-7 days.

We got a call today that said they were holding us up becasue we mentioned the sale price in the description. It said something like:

"ON SALE NOW FOR 0.99 (US)"

We took off the .99 (US) part so we will see what happens now. Today is day 21 since the last rejection and tomorrow will be day 35 since our initial submission.

Made the same mistake with my last app. Too about 4 days after I fixed the problem for them to review and accept the app.

So you are not allowed to say the price of an app in the description any more? it did always seem odd seeing a dollar price on the UK market :p

We mentioned to Apple that the "not having a price in the description" is not documented anywhere, and the current #1 game in the app store, Sally's Salon has ".99c for a limited time" as the first line.

Pretty sure I've seen that mentioned somewhere in one of the legal docs we were all supposed to read ;) I remember it because I thought at the time that there were plenty of people that were putting prices up with their app descriptions, including us!

That's refreshing to know . . . though I don't understand why it would take longer to approve a simple update than it would to approve the entire application. I submitted some general enhancements to my apps and I've been waiting now for 13 days and haven't received anything yet . . . still 'In Review' but the apps themselves only took 6 days to get approved.

COME ON APPLE AND HURRY IT UP!!! :)

I have still two updates waiting since nearly two weeks (the last tme they went through in some days) - I assume the 3.0 checks double the review times.
