Anyone considering the Steam Deck?

People seem to be divided on it, but it looks interesting to me. Plus, it looks like they must have made a deal with the devil; it can somehow output Bluetooth audio without needing a dongle. Some companies are on their third revision of a device and can't figure out how to do that.

I’m divided on it too. Want a Steam Deck, don’t need a Steam Deck, I probably won’t get one, but then again I just might.
Looks technically impressive aside from low res screen. Apparently it’s heavy compared with other mobile devices. Not cheap either as hardcore gamers would need the top spec. Good idea though.

Same. For years, my main gaming was done on portable devices (GameBoy, GBA, PSP, iPhone). Mac gaming has always been like fitting a square peg into a round hole (still waiting for my GTA III Mac port). I'd been thinking that Sony should come out with a PSP4 portable; they could leverage all their existing PS4 users. But Steam doing it makes more sense for a number of reasons. I could see myself re-buying some stuff that I have on my PS4 to have the flexibility of playing on my PC and the Steam Deck.

Weight is my main concern. It’s already a pretty big device, and twice as heavy as a regular Switch is kind of an issue.

As a Mac user, I love the idea of this — there are many indie PC games I would love to check out, but I have no interest in picking up an actual PC (and I’m not a fan of playing on a computer anyway).

I’ve taken a chance and deposited 4 pounds for a 512GB Steam Deck.
Ordering now the expected delivery date is Q3 2022, that’s if no production delays. Probably safer to assume early 2023. I have plenty of time to decide whether or not to go ahead with purchase, the deposit being fully refundable if not.
