    Hi gemineye62,

A - Renaming: I had an option to rename solar systems in an early version of alien tribe 1 but Apple don't like my solution. So I had to remove it. I would like to bring this feature back, but have to implement other stuff first. So it can take some time.

B - Have you played the first tutorial 'Basics'?

C - This is difficulty to answer. I like the more challenging gameplay without 'forgiving'.
Dear players. Please tell me what you think about additional savegames.

The next update will include voice messages but when it repeats the same phrases too often it can be very annoying. So I have to test this often in test games. I hope to find a good balance.
The game was intended to take about one and a half our. After this time you should have collected all arkship parts and end the game through the black hole.
Apparently the gameplay is much longer now. 4 - 10 hours?
I think the difficulty should progress slower in low difficulty levels.
    I will work on it.

I am sorry about the crashes. When we tested the game it never crashed, but I read more times about crashes now.
I will integrate an analytics framework into the next update, so I get the crash reports and can remove the crash bugs.

The help screen of the arkship should tell you what to do. But you are right: it is imparted poorly. Should work on it... sorry.
Best idea is to always find the black hole before you build the arkship.

    Thank you for playing,
    Stefan

The autosave plus a few slots for saved games would be great. That way the user can keep game states important to them.

    Thanks for programming!

PS: For tracking crashes I have a good experience with crittercism

Thanks for the response. I have a far better idea of how to proceed with this
game. My next play session should only take an hour or two I believe.

I spent too much time building up my forces and researching and should
have focused on scanning for Arc parts etc. I need to find the other two
solar systems ASAP and build the pipelines.

This is a very good game. With a few tweaks it will be great!

    Thanks

I find that creating a cluster of defensive turrets around the entry to a solar system deals with most attackers. By "cluster" I mean a Railgun, a couple of defence railguns, an ENERGY COLLECTOR (sucks the life out of clouds), 2 or 3 missile launchers and 2 or 3 heavy railguns (for the maloc mother ships).

I then extend my pipline toward the next solar system that I want to colonize...but never letting it run out of reach of the turret defence formation...I build more defensive clusters along it's length until I reach the next system. I keep adding to these clusters as resources allow. Once I have robust enough turret defences, I build warships (of all varieties) - I think that the turret clusters are far more important than ships in the game (especially early game).

I have beaten the game on HARD setting without buying any ORB's (I did save up a fair few to use in the hard game though from previous games on NORMAL - I started with about 26!)

Also, Once you have 2 systems colonised, try to have around 5+ freighters auto mining asteroids and delivering to mining stations (to save time).

Later in the game, resource gathering can be speeded up considerably by researching ship speed AND ship capacity (meaning a freighter can haul 5 units instead of 4 - and by travelling more quickly, amass resources far more rapidly.)

Also - it is well worth studying each planets resource harvesting capabilities. The thin purple line shows how effective the resource production will be, so no point in wasting max "staff" on producing a resource that the planet cannot produce quickly. Fine tuning the number of your little green men who produce each resource on each planet is essential.

It is also possible to research the production of a given resource and increase the harvest speed (I think 20% is the first jump - so well worth it).

I don't see the "missions" as being something to focus on - they are simply milestones in the natural progression of the game. If you are playing logically, then you will achieve the missions and the related upgrade ability as a matter of course. Don't get bogged down with missions!

Remember to identify the location of a black hole so that once you can build an arkship you know where to take it.

Once you build the arkship, the Malocs attacks come a lot more frequently and having a large fleet of heavily researched warships to escort it is essential or you'll just get the arkship wasted by the first wave of Malocs - which spells GAME OVER!

    Great game :)

    No crashes here

I've played around 20 games and never experienced a crash - the game can grind a bit when there is a lot going on, but nothing serious and hardly affects the gameplay.

As for saved game slots - it would be nice...but it would make it a whole lot easier...some may prefer that?

That's exactly how to build up a defense. And Energy Collectors really help! :)

Well I guess this is a proof that the In-App purchases are not really needed. It was always thought as a "cheat" option...

Incresing the ship speed and ship capacity is a really good strategy too. Even I have never played it that way. The research center is one of the most important things at a later stage in the game.

Did you ever use the Terraformer for a planet? The Terraformer will have big update with the next version because we think it is too much micormanagement. I was never a big fan of the Terraformer but Stefan (Ukando) really likes it.

The missions were always intened as milestones if you play logically. For players which are not used to this kind of games the mission might be helpful because if they play by the mission the will have desired progress. In the new version you will have an overview of all missions and rewards in the different catagories.

Bought this because I think its cool. Lot of hard work gone into it. Haven't played it yet are there missions? I've tried to learn these types of games. I love the challenge as it stretches my small brain.

I really want to play this genre as I love strategy so much. So far just going through the tutorial. I love the Dorothy and challenge.

Re the Terraformer - i have used it a fair bit, but you are right about the micro management being a pain and i often leave it to sit idle and focus on other stuff. It's handy if you have a planet that creates Nuclides and has potential to grow much bigger for example. But having to dedicate a freighter to follow it around is too much of a pain.

I like the concept of the terraformer being able to act alone and utilise the resources of the planet it is working on - sounds like a good update.

Just started my first VERY HARD game :) So far so good...but am I to expect a massive onslaught any minute? I have set up a massive defence around first solar system entry - but 2nd system is exposed and I don't have the resources to build yet....if those Maloc drones get in I'm screwed :)

    Teraforming & Multiplayer

Re: Teraformer - How exactly is it meant to be used? In my last game i tried to terraform a planet with a population on 1 hoping to increase the population after three attempts using 60 minerals I gave up, nothing seemed to have changed!

Is there a plan to add multiplayer functionality to this game? It would be awesome if we could go other galaxies and battle with other players for resources.

    Hi 3Dayo,

    how Terraformers work:
when you open the planet's interface you can see a section with the 'structural' indicators of the planet (temperature, gravity, structure, radiation) and the section with the 'atmospheric' indicators (density, composition) under it.
The Terraformer only can change the planet's atmosphere. So when you have a planet with bad atmospheric conditions and good structural conditions you can make the planet better for your Fifo, but you cannot correct a ultrahigh temperature for example.
So choose what you want to terraform...

    To the multiplayer thing:
I think it is not possible to change a running system so far without bad consequences.
But ... I could imagine (if the game is successfull) to make a similar game with full multiplayer functionality. I think that this could be really, really cool too. But this must be planned from scratch. To change the existing game to multiplayer would likely crash the game design/performance and let me go nuts trying.

    Hope this was helpfull,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
Thank you for the feedback! I totally understand the issues with the multiplayer feature in the current game. Hopefully it will be possible in future versions. :D

I hope you make tons of money from this. This is the only IOS game I've bought where I feel that I've gotten far more value than the price I paid.

We are far away from making tons of money. One reason is that we haven't got any review on the big mobile app websites or blogs (except one website in Germany) and so we are happy about every single promotion, help, review, recommondation! Another reason is that you sell much more if your app runs on iPhone and iPad but AT2 is made for iPad only.

On the other side we are not really sad about the fact that we haven't got any review from the big mobile games sites because the next version(s) of Alien Tribe 2 will have alot of improvements and new things that will make the game even better and more enjoyable. A current review will probably have 1/2 or 1 star less than a review of the next AT2 updates. Once we have the next "big" update ready we will contact all the review websites for a review.

I happen to own www.feedmyapp.com - not the biggest app review site in the world(!) but we get a decent number of views and every little helps - I'll post a review for you when the next update comes out (as I've played the game heaps and loved it I have no doubt it will be a 5 Star one too!)

    Hi BertieTheBoxer,

I'm very happy about this. A good review will always help us regardless how big your site is.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Beta testers

We are looking for a few beta testers for the next version. The next update will be the biggest update so far with a new station which minimizes the micromanagement.

So if anybody is interersted please send me a message.
