went into this game blind.. looks cool. and quiet. music was really soft. ok, can get some build options. sent the research ship to scan the planets, built the colony transfer ship. Colony transferred to the other 4 planets in the system (max size 1, 1, 1, 14) . hmmm red symbols on 3 of them, a few minutes later those 3 planets 'died' as the lone FiFo starved to death. Ok... at least the 4th planet still surviving and growing. 10/14 population baby! Built a terraformer, and sent it off to the 4th planet. ok nothing happened. oh, you need to transfer minerals. scooted my freighter over there with 4 crystals. Terroformer started "spraying" the planet and the colony max population started going up. Cool! Suddenly the red plate symbol appeared when the population limit hit 20 and the FiFo started dropping like flies. WTF?? Tried to transport more food, but was only a temporary measure as the rate of starvation was really fast. Ok pause. read help menu on terraformer, revisited the introduction screens. Ah, those dots thingy seem to indicate what the colony should produce. unpaused, quickly removed all white dots except for food remaining at 4 dots. Nope, doesn't help. Planet 'died'. I quit....
Yes, you can connect a Research Center to the resource network. Simply build the Research Station next to Solar Storage and connect it.
Hi Atreyu, I think we have to pack some better explanations into the game somehow. Some explanations you need: FOOD USAGE Every colonized Planet needs food. Food is one of the five resources you can produce on (not every) planets. When the food reserves of a planet are exhausted, one food unit is removed from the storage and the food reserves get filled up again. If no food unit is available in the planet's storage the population starves. RESOURCE PRODUCTION This productions are not constant streams - the planets produce resource units periodically. When you tap a planet, the planet interface opens on the top right side. In the second section of the interface you can see all available resources for the planet. The thick blue bar on the top of the resource buttons indicate the production progress. Underneath is a thin red bar that indicates the resource 'efficiency' and so the time to harvest one resource unit. The three white dots at the button's bottom indicate the assigned manpower. By tapping the button the whole manpower on the planet is newly distributed between all glowing dots. There are two ways to distribute resources between the planets: - THE HARD WAY: Take a freighter. Load food. Fly to the target planet and unload it. - THE EASY WAY: Build a Resource Storage in your solar system (Best place is beside your jumpgate). This storage provides the resources of all colonized planets to all colonized planets. I hope this explanations were helpfull, Stefan
Next Update Hi dear players, update 1.1 is on the way but is still waiting for review at the AppStore, sorry. What's coming next? Some points of interrest: - When you colonize planets, the Colony Ship will unload food for half of a food unit. - Big Terraformer rework: The Terraformer was a highly unsatisfying unit because the micro management with the frighters really sucked. So the FIFO engeneers reworked this unit and it now cannot be loaded with minerals anymore. It is not longer a resource storage unit. To convert a planet's atmosphere, the Terraformer now uses the mineral units on the planet. Especially usefull when you terraform a colonized planet. Furthermore the Terraformer does no longer convert as long as minerals are available. It now costs 2 mineral units to start terraforming and ends when the 2 mineral units are wasted. - The Research Ship were tired of waiting and now begin scanning planets as soon as they enter a solar system. - Research Center menu now opens over a single tap on the shortcut bar. - Changes at the Ci'Tan engery being grows control. There seem to be a still a bug in the current update, so I did some changes in grow up time and max grow limit of this teasers. More changes coming but at the moment I am looking for the reason of the performance issues when maloc drones attack. Thank you for reading, Stefan
Hi Stefan, can you comment on the event that the planet went from being self-sustaining to suddenly severe starvation (-1 population every minute) during the terraforming process? By instinct, perhaps due to years of playing Civilization, I had assumed terraforming would only bring positive effects to the planet. So it was surprising when that happened.
Hi Atreyu, the terraforming process only corrects the atmospher's density and composition and makes a planet more inhabitable. So it should only have positive effects. The only reasons for starvations are: - The planet is under attack. - The planets maximum population falls for some reason below the actual population count. - The planet has no more food units in store to be converted to planet's consumable food. So I think your planet had not enough food available. Tap on the planet and see on top left the number of food units in the planets storage (leaf icon). If the planet has no food, but another populated planet in the system has, you have to options: 1. Use a freighter and bring a food unit(s) to the planet. 2. Build a Solar Storage in the system. So all populated planets in the system can share their resources. What else can be happened? What I think could be happened (maybe. When you have a solar storage): -> Your planet produced a unit of food. -> Another planet in your network consumed this food unit. -> Your planet needs the food unit to convert, but have non. -> Starvation When you can't find the reason for the starvation in this descriptions, please let me know. Hoping to be helpfull, Stefan
Update 1.1.0 available The Alien Tribe 2 version 1.1.0 is available at the App Store now. ---- What's new: - Pause mode: now you can look around and give orders while in pause mode. - Added an overview mode for mission categories. Tap icons on missions screen. - Modified Ci'Tan energy beings to reduce their maximum attack range. - The scan range of the Research Ship is not longer random. - Manual weapon targeting should work now. - Home solar system now contains always 5 Planets. - Long range pipeline. Easier connection of solar systems. WARNING: Save game incompatibility: Due to big changes in the pipelining system savegames of previous versions cannot be loaded. However all GEOs spent in such savegames should be available again. ----- We are also already working on the next update with some nice surprises. Would be great if you could leave some feedback here and please let us know your whishes for new features...
I'm going to be starting a new game today to check all the new features. Appreciate the support guys!
I really like the new update and the long range pipeline. Question for the developers: What are your plans for the next updates?
Just got a couple hours with the new update! Very fun. The long range pipelines are excellent! I really like the dynamic of still needing the standard pipelines. For the first time ever I traveled far outside the middle of the map and setup deep space mining operations. Made a military squadron of laser ships and middle ships to handle defense. It was excellent. It was great to not get sniped out completely by the Ci'tan clouds. Thank you for the fix. Ideas I though about while playing: - it would be great to be able to go on the offense and have something to attack! - maybe a new scenario where you need to dominate a sector while den finding your bases - sheild units? Excited to see what you have coming next!
Hi Valkyre: The main focus for the next update is to reduce micro management (with a big terraformer rework) and improve performance. Please see me post from 01-15-2014 05:12 AM. Greetings, Stefan
Hello, Any chance of A. giving the Player the option to rename planets ? B. a tutorial explaining resource management such such a food production. C. the option for more than one save file. Thanks
By the way, I am really impressed with the interface for selecting and giving orders. I am not new to strategy games but, this one is challenging. I have played on easy twice and lost. I am on my third attempt and finally see perhaps a chance to finish this first mission. This game definitely offers quite the bang for the buck , I would say. Getting the research station, and upgrading the galaxy view and ships will hopefully give me a chance against those pesky floating coloured clouds. They destroyed most of my fleet and all of my structures at about the 4 hour gameplay mark. I thought I was a goner but, managed to rebuild at my original solar system and chose to let the Clouds and Alien Ship fight it out amongst themselves. The only thing I would add to the game would be voices. When you select a ship, the captain says..."Yes sir!" Also, some kind of voice saying "Food shortage." "Starvation eminent." Thanks
Okay, I have built the Arc Ship and the inhabitants in my system have boarded. Now what? The game crashes less then a minute now, back to the work bench screen. Any Help please would be appreciated.
I've just tested the latest beta version and I was surprised that it has already voices saying stuff like "Mission solved" etc. I like your ideas a lot and I am sure it will improve the game. We are also planning a big overhaul on the whole guiding and teaching system during the game because I think it is too dificult for beginners. I am currently working on a proposal which will contains several new things like feedback, warning and hints during the game. Hopefully this will be finished in one of the next updates.
The game crashes when you have build the ark ship? Do you have any more info? Normally when you have built the Arkship you have to find the black hole and escape with the Ark Ship through it.
Oh man! Ten hours of gaming and I lost the arc ship. I really did not think in a million years to go into the black hole . Some kind of voice telling you to fly there or a pop up would have been appreciated. I naturally thought....that black hole sucked up two of my ships before.........stay we'll away!!! I just had no idea what to do. Another save file would have given a second shot at it.
A proper game Shame - maybe you aren't used to playing such an involved game. This isn't a "casual iOS game"...it does require that you think and spend at least a few minutes going through the tutorials. You problem is that you failed to provide FOOD for the planets that didn't produce food. You can either freight it to them or, far preferred, build a construction ship and then build a SOLAR DISTRIBUTION hub...this effectively shares all the resources of the solar system with all planets...food problem solved. I could go on....but maybe you need to get back to Candy Crush? ;-)
