Thanks for the great feedback. We got some good press in Germany and we had some very good chart rankings in Europe (Germany #11 Overall app, #6 Games etc., Austria, Netherlands etc.). We also translated the app in to the russian language and now the russian chart rankings also much better than before. I also think the diplomatic layer would give Alien Tribe 2 a boost into a completely new direction. I like the idea a lot. The only thing I am little bit concerned is to find the right balance between the diplomatic stuff and the real-time strategy. I've talked with Stefan H. (Ukando) and it will be probably the next big update. Also attacking the Malloc instead of only defending would be another great addition.
I've been playing this for the last couple days now... And getting back into it, I've just got to echo Ajoyna's statements. This is an amazing game... And diplomacy options would be... AHHHH! SO exciting... But even as is, it's an awesome 4X-RTS. And not just 1/2 RTS (like AD:Warlords [dont get me wrong, LOVE that game as well...]), but full on, everything's happening in real time, multi-task, manage materials, ships, ect... 4X. I'd even go as far as to say I'm enjoying this more than I did Imperium Galactica 2 on the iPad (back when I still had one). I really can't recommend this one enough to strategy fans out there, especially @ $1.99!
I agree, there's nothing like it. I'm not usually a fan of RTS, but this implementation isn't twitchy or frantic. It just keeps the game moving smoothly. It's still on my first page of games, and I've been playing it since release.
Thank you for all the great comments. Alien Tribe 2 is a labour of love and although I "joined" the project quite late (mid 2013) I am still in love with it. The main man behind Alien Tribe 2 is Stefan from Ukando (he also posts here) and we are real good friends. We went to university together and worked together in several projects for the last 15 years. There is also another mutual friend involved who is helping us in his spare time with marketing. What about bringing some diplomatic aspects to the game? I REALLY LIKE the idea and we've talked about it internally and we will have a discussion next week. The next big update will definetely have a diplomatic layer. So if you have any ideas or if you think this would be really cool for the game please let us know!
I like the idea of a diplomatic layer in the game too. Sounds interresting. Can you describe for me in a few words how you imagine this could work (just as food for thought)?
I think the game needs some more alien species. Right now there are only the Malloc'. Here are my ideas (just early morning brain storming)... - Build alliances with other species - Buy / Swap /Trade weapons and existing technologies - Declare war on a specific species - Install agents / spys or build technologies to listen to the data traffic in space - Research with other species for new weapons / technologies - Hijacking of own / foreign ships - Protection racket - etc...
Playong the same game on twi different devices would be cool but it's not really necessary. I hope you guys work on a diplomatic layer. Don't get me wrong alien Tribe 2 is a fantastic game and worth every penny but if the diplomatic layer comes it will be another dimension.
iCloud support/another cloud solution is important to me, but not for synchronicity reasons. The freedom to temporarily delete a game without permanently losing progress, and to always have my current save games safe regardless of what happens to my device, is very valuable. Less important in a 4X game like Alien Tribe 2, though, where there is no truly long-term progress, and where much of the fun comes from starting from scratch again and again after finished games.
Will talk to Ukando Stefan for the game state syncing. We already have a finished iOS 8 update for Alien Tribe 2 but since the iOS 8 adoption is very slow we will wait.
While it is slower than iOS 7 (but considerably faster than some previous iOS releases), "slow" is a bit of a misnomer The iOS 8 userbase was at 46% five days after release, over four weeks ago. By now, more than half your target audience might be on iOS 8.
We will definetely release it the next weeks and it has some minor new features. More important is the next big update and we want to hear all your input. What's missing? What's do you like or dislike. Tell us - we will try to implement it. Note: After we have translated the game to the russian language we are doing really good in the counries like Russia, Ukraine, Belearus etc. Which language should be the next one? Japanes? Spanish?
I would love to see one of the enhancements in the next updates: - an endless mode - diplomatic layer - attacking mallocs With these features it would get 10 out 5 stars!
Hi there, I thought about the iOS 8 release. Although it is nearly finished I think it's better to continue with iOS7 for the next month. - As it seems the App runs on the iPhone 6 devices without problems. - The iOS 8 version would not bring any big advantages - only a smaller App size. - Some people with older devices wish not to upgrade to iOS 8 concerning speed problems. So I transfered the recent changes back to the iOS 7 version for now. Hope you understand my decision. Best wishes, Stefan
Is this something inherent to iOS 8, or the result of optimizations on your part? (Curious if this is a side-effect of iOS 8-native code and resources that I might have missed out on.) No worries! I'm not in a hurry. Just figured I'd try to alter some perceptions regarding iOS 8, as it seems the adoption rate is underrepresented in media and public perception
It seems that iOS 8 has a changed compile/compression handling for the image assets folder (The file 'Assets.car' in the App bundle).
