I agree but it'd be good if they were more consistent with enforcing their rules. I mean, we've all seen the bazillion "A gentleman racing 3D goat game of action guns" crap that is nothing more than glitchy 5fps gameplay followed by a massive video ad, "games" that plague the app store. When you release something that is genuinely a quality game that had a bunch of time and love put into it to get rejected for something that petty... it makes no sense. Personally, I'd be all for a system like Steam used to be, or Xbox Live Arcade. Games should have to meet a certain quality before they get in the store. Maybe not that strict, but there are millions of apps that really shouldn't be there and they ruin the whole experience for me as I have to wade through piles of utter shovelware to find a good game or two. Also makes it hard for those of us who actually take pride in our work to get our games noticed! But back on topic, hope this gets sorted ASAP. I really enjoy the beta and look forward to giving you actual money soon
I'd have to agree. Democratisation on app submission has a lot of positive effects in the sense that 'a few human validation' can't always figure out that something out of the box has its place and might have a big impact, but when quality stuff gets buried under tons of craps, it makes you ponder. As for Apple review, from our experience when they missed something, they usually are quite cooperative at re-checking the evidences without having to resubmit a new build. Best of luck with the release in any case!!
In a bit of a rush (Doctor Who is on in a mo') but thought I'd post this to annoy/tease you with! Another 'Living Colour' shot! C64 fans will be happy I think! Cheers, QS =D
Sorry, did you say something? I was busy marvelling at my FULL COLOUR Commodore 64 game graphics and wonderful SID sound
I have actually been playing a few Speccy games recently. Chase HQ has to be the best home conversion I have seen! The Speccy always had much more true to the arcade visuals than the C64... just with less colour. But yeah, both great machines. Can't beat the SID for the ultimate chiptune sound, though
Agreed - I'll leave that discussion there (speccy is still better though ) Absolutely agreed! Honestly, the Speccy had some truly fantastic games on it that shaped my childhood (and the two you mention were a couple of my faves). Apparently (according to wikipedia) there were over 24,000 games released for it. Which sounds like a staggering amount until you realise that's probably how many games get released on iOS in a day* QS =D *I jest. Probably.
Happy to help! I got Super Crate Box about 3 months ago I think, and I really like it! SOS is not really like SCB though - sorry if that disappoints, but it's really its own game. It's actually inspired/an homage to Jetpac on the ZX Spectrum - which is about 30 years old now! - But at the same time, it's different to that too! :O A clever person on Twitter actually said something along the lines of 'It's as if Jeff Minter made Jetpac' - which was an awesome way to describe it QS =D EDIT - I should add that one of the big differences is that there's only one 'action' button (you can see it on the right side of the screen in the screenshots). The way it works is that tapping the button will thrust a tiny bit *and* shoot at the same time. Holding the button down will make you thrust up till you let go. I was worried that some people might not like it, but not one of the testers ever mentioned it. So I hope people will find it fun and intuitive to play
I actually really like the control method. It's nice and simple, as iOS games should be... not a screen full of buttons Works great!!!
