I think there should be a system in case of accidental purchases with 1-click buy. As in, possibly, a button to cancel a purchase within the first 30 seconds of purchase. Who else agrees a system like this would be effective? What possible drawbacks does it have, and are those serious enough to stop Apple from implementing it?
That's actually a great idea, but what If someone could take the downloaded file before they cancelled it?
iTunes always confirms with me atleast once asking if I want to buy this app. So not really a problem with me. Is there a setting for this? Coz I see a check box in that message asking me not to have this warning again. I'm not stupid enough to check that box. You probably have that box checked. See if you can find something in iTunes setting to unchecked it again. Btw I use only a CC for iTunes so not really sure if the same thing works with gift cards too.
Still, there are cases where you regret a purchase even if you do it that way. Even if you have that setting on, wouldn't you still like a method to undo your purchase?
If you make an accidental purchase even after iTunes prompting you to confirm it, then you dont really deserve any refund IMO How could anyone make such a mistake. I agree with one-click option and those prompts turned off- there is a chance of buying something accidentally which you didnt want. But with a confirmation required before final purchase you simply cant blame it as an accident. What it does need to change is that it doesnt clearly tell when redownloading some app. It always tells that you`ll be charged for this app and only after you confirm your purchase it tells you that item has been bought earlier and if you`d like to re download it. Thats where one can make a mistake in case he clicks on the wrong app and confirms the purchase thinking he wont be charged for it. iTunes should clearly tell you that the item has been bought earlier instead of telling you`ll be charged for it. Btw this situation has a workaround. You can always confirm if the app has been previously bought in your account by writing a review/rating the app. If iTunes allows you to leave a rating/review then it means the app has been paid for earlier and it`ll be safe to re-download it.
the shopping cart thing doesn't work with apps does it? Also I used to make the cursor jump to a dialog box when one pops up, so I'm wanting to click somewhere and the prompt pops up right before I click, the cursor can jump to "Buy" or whatever and yeah how DO people get a refund, I've of some who have
I've gotten two refunds. You can get them by going into your account - view your purchase history, find the invoice with the app in question. Then push the button marked Report a Problem, set the field to "I mistakenly purchased this app" and explain what you did in the 2nd field. First app they refunded me no questions asked. They did recommend I use the shopping cart system though. Second one they were a bit iffy, but said since I was a loyal customer (I am) they would refund one more time. First app was $4, 2nd was only $1
For me They said that that in the iTunes store contract that all purchases were final. When did you have this refund?
I'd say about two months ago. First I got an email saying the transaction would be looked at, then that it was being looked at, then one saying my account would be credited. I'd screenshot a few things for ya, but my iPod is being restored right now (iTunes & iPod both busy...)
This would be a great idea. But I did call Apple once about a problem I was having with an app I had just bought worth $1.99 (or maybe it was $2.99...) that literally crashed almost immediately every time upon entering it, and they told me to try a few things and if that still didn't work they could give me a refund. None of those things worked and the app developers never answered my emails although they continue to update this app while never fixing the crash that in the reviews makes obvious that quite a lot of users are having with (there was probably a lot of bad grammar phrasing in that last sentence haha). So I could have called back Apple (and maybe still can?) to get my refund but I haven't tried yet since I guess I'm just so lazy. LOL
Hmm... Well, I did that once. I bought Peggle because I thought I had enough money. It turns out, it was one of those cases where my account's credit was "lagged" and was showing more than I actually had. I really don't like the hassle of Paypal, and I asked for a refund. I was rejected under the premise that "All purchases are final in the iTunes Store contract". Now I'm going to have a $1.18 charge in my Paypal until I bother to put money in there. I know, I'm lazy, but still; a lagged account balance should qualify me for a refund. P.S. So who thinks I should send an email to apple asking whether this feature can be implemented in the 9.1 iTunes store, containing a link to this thread? Should I wait until this thread is longer?
Epiphany How about a refund is possible within the time it takes for the app to download, for a minimum of 10 seconds? This would take care of the problem for the bigger apps, and apple could modify the download process so that the app doesn't register in the app collection until the refund time is up.
