I understand that must be frustrating. I'll try redownloading it on my iOS 5 device and see if it works. Apple gives us zero control over the download/distribution of the app. We upload a file to Apple, set a release date, and that's all we can do. Have you tried restoring the game via iTunes?

I love this game man! At the beginning, I didn't find the objective of the game, but after you start playing, it gets addicting, and harder and harder, but that's just what makes this game so much fun! 9/10! Would buy!

That download problem might be tied to your device or your local store.
Try restarting the device, or try again later on - this has already happened to me with other games, all I had to do was wait and the problem vanished :)

It's a really sweet game, I dig it

Question to the dev: why make it free, it's a solid game and seems to be selling ok (top 200).

are you just looking for more reviews?

I think the biggest problem with the game is that there's only 1 image on your app store page, and it makes your game look like a choose your own adventure, but it's really a simulator, TOTALLY different genres and totally different audiences

Thank you! Let me respond to your comments one by one. There are a lot of good things that are worth explaining. And I hope that knowing a little bit more about who I am (and what indie devs go through) will make the game that much more personal and unique.

A Dark Room made it into the top 10 under the RPG for pay category. Surprisingly that translates to the monthly income of someone working part time at a fast food restaurant... and at times I find myself living just like that :p (I have a link on the developer support page of A Dark Room that talks about some of the things I had to change in my life to do the things I love http://amirrajan.net/a-dark-room/).

There are many people that are hesitant in spending even $0.99 on a game. I want to break down those barriers and build that initial word of mouth community. If that means I have to make the game free for a few days, then it's what I have to do. Reviews are extremely important too. I'm hoping that with both of those pieces, A Dark Room will get a chance in the lime light.

I was very much against any form of in game purchases or ads in the game. It would take away from the experience and immersion. It would destroy what the game stands for: a complete experience that invokes emotions in the player (the sense of discovery, anxiety, loss, and an internal battle between good and evil actions).

There in lies the problem. I don't what to rob the player of any one of these experiences. Showing even a screen shot of
    the village or battle sequences
would hint at what's to come... taking away from the feeling you get when you've discovered something new. I have got to rely on *you* (you being those that have taken the time to read this). To tell your friends and families, to let others know that if they give A Dark Room a chance, if they trust your words and what you have to say about it, then they'll be rewarded with an experience few games can provide.

So based on the reviews in this thread, and you the developer participating, I decided to give this a shot and I'm glad I did! I have literally played for three hours straight now just muddling my way along and I'm really having fun!

I would have never have found this game without this thread, and I still almost missed when searching for it as it is not universal. I realize it's not a huge deal for this type of game, but I know that when searching or just browsing the store it seems to default to ipad only on my ipad, so I'd never seen this before. Might be worthwhile to make it universal just for that simple reason.

I also see where you are coming from on the screenshot thing, but even just one more might make all the difference in someone trying this or not? I will be sure to leave you a review once I get a little farther on and guit dying so often!

So I picked this up while it was free to try out as noted above, and I like it a lot. Today I got a receipt from Apple saying I was charged .99 cents. Odd as I swear it was free when I purchased, but whatever. At least it's for a game I enjoy!
