Crashed on my ipad mini about 3 times in total, in over 20 hours of playtime. Not bad i should say, considering other games in lesser quality can crash at anytime too.
That's not so bad. Were you running IOS 7 and is it the first generation ipad mini, or mini2 / retina?
nope... worth a $1 at most, which was the lowest sale price. same game updated graphics but worse commentary and alot of unneeded court light glare.
I got it for free on my PS3 thanks to PS+'s Instant Game Collection. This seems like the kind of game I'd prefer on a bigger screen anyway. .... Not really feeling it for any of the games on sale... so an easy pass for me.
I enjoy XCom better on the touchscreen coz of the controls. Tactics games are so much better on the touchscreen.
I've tested it out on my mini (ran great before on iOS6) and it still plays great on iOS7. The first time you play it. Do a hard reset, and make sure that it will be the only app open.
Thanks man! I actually own the game and its sequel on my xbox 360, but I only played the original once and I'm using my mobile device more than my consoles now. Same game, right? They didn't axe any content? I'm fine with toned down graphics, which is expected.
Touch screen works fine for these kinds of games, but I have no issue using dpads and buttons either. I had a blast playing Advance wars on my old GBA... and on the DS versions I preferred the dpad and buttons. Whatever the case, I usually don't play turn based games based on control options (the controls just need to work). I do however prefer these kinds of games portable... but XCom is big enough and pretty enough that I'd rather take advantage of the game for free on my PS3 than buy it and struggle with the controls and crashes on my 4S. I hear it runs fine on the air. I'd imagine it's easier to control on the air as well with the bigger screen/interface versus the 4S.
^Well if it matters, i meant everything i said to be on the ipad mini and the ipad air. I played it a little on my 4S, but it wasnt as satisfying... Just like with every other tactics game on iOS.
If you're not into strategy games don't bother. Although, it does have some "tycoon" management gameplay as well, if you're into that.
