Couldn't agree more. I've been following this game since last fall and it's so clear that a LOT of work has been put into this. It looks creative and it seems that the devs are bringing their excitement and love to this project. I grew up loving Rogue games as a kid and hopefully they know that there are people out there like me who really appreciate the work they've done. I'm happy to give my 4.99 to them. Oh and by the way Madgarden - I'm a huge fan of Sword of Fargoal.
If I understand it correctly, last night they said it was being submitted to Apple this morning. Since they already had an earlier version approved by Apple they're hoping for a quick approval. So hope they're right. i'm itching to download.
Relatively, it is. I agree that it probably is a great value, but nonetheless, you can get other quality Roguelikes for cheaper. Rogue Touch and Cavern are $3, and your game is currently $4.
One. Whole. Dollar. Still, if you are the sort of customer who can wait quietly for a sale instead of nagging the developers or complaining about the "luxurious" price tag, we'll be apples On a more pertinent note.... it appears to have been submitted!
Seriously.... i device owners are the biggest cheapskates in the videogame industry. The games on here get more play than most of my ps3 / 360 / wii titles. This one especially and its only been in the beta alone. I don't mean that in a mean way, its just funny to see people complain about 1-6 dollar /dl games that are often more polished than 40-60 dollar retail console games. With that being said... this game blows other roguelikes out of the water with its play style. Its like a turnbased Diablo. That is my opinion. The beta of this has lasted longer than any of the other 120+ game apps I have.
Very true! I have been following this game on their forums for quite some time myself and I know it will be my favorite rogue-like once its out mainly due to the graphics and hell all round style. Nothing like RPG elements and some humor to top it all off. I also 2nd that notion that most iTouch users I've come across are cheap. I honestly don't get it but oh well...that's going to be there loss... I hope this game sales to the point where no discount is needed because I can't even count how many posts from user to dev and vice-versa as well as the extent they have gone over to touch on every little detail in making this game as good as it one expects. I really hope that the hard work pays off. I will be waiting patiently until then.
Just read the list of planned updates. It's getting more Shiren-like than ever! All it needs is a wandering masseuse and a talking weasel.
Glad to see this should come out at a price above $0.99. While I appreciate getting lots of good apps for cheap, I've been saying for a while that iDevice developers really should be charging more for their apps. Although I'm holding off buying a lot of stuff right now because I have once again spent too much on apps this month, I'll be buying this first chance I get to show support for the devs and for higher prices.
That's the right spirit, buddy! I just hope they haven't messed up the controls. Constantly tapping on every corner of my device wouldn't be the best solution for me.
Its really more of a tap in the direction you want to go. I actually play the game with my thumb while holding the device in my hand.
Thanks fer yer info! In the videos that I saw, they were always tapping at the corners. Well, we'll see how these controls fit the gameplay.
Yes - well, sort of. Your character's colors change from different armor types. Also, shields show up only when you block, and specific weapons do show up, so if you have a red Dagger of Vampire, your weapon will appear red in-game as well as on the inventory screen. "...other quality roguelikes for cheaper..." The idea with 100 Rogues wasn't just to "make another roguelike". 100 Rogues is first and foremost a game, which justifies its existence not on basis of genre, but on the basis of its individual design. 100 Rogues is different than any roguelike I've ever played in a few ways, but the most significant is this: it's a roguelike about fighting mobs of monsters, and you have a tree full of skills that you must use intelligently in order to fight these mobs intelligently. With that said, I'm sure there are other quality roguelikes, and I'm sure there are ones that are cheaper, but there is only one game that will give you the experience our game gives you. This isn't a re-skinning of Nethack. And yes, we submitted the game yesterday (actually, last night - had some last minute bugs to tackle), and we're waiting on Apple now. So exciting! I'm really glad that some of you have noticed how much work we've put into this game. It's been a year and a half of just pouring our hearts and souls into this thing. I can't wait to get you guys playing. Finally, it'd be great if some of you could come say hello on our boards at www.100rogues.com.
For me, it is a very vital and important part of the design process a dev goes through, that he knows what his game is worth and that he sticks to it. Strange that you showed up, btw. - I suspect you've heard something about the approval of 100 Rogues? Oh, nvw: just read the last sentence of your edited post.
You really do sound like you've put a lot into this. I think I'll be getting this when it drops. I'm very interested.
