Perhaps that explains the delay... sigh. Well, as long as they release it properly, I suppose D@mmit the suspense is killing me!
A perfectly awesome rogue RPG ruined by... ...not having a ranger/archer class. Mage class accounted for? Check! Melee warrior class? Check! Archer... ummm nope. The upcoming two classes do not entice me. This game does look fantastic though. Sadly I will probably pass on it. Dungeon Hunter did the same thing but at least I was able to slightly get into character with a rogue. Devs for the love that is all good and holy, don't forget the archer - ranged class!
Omission of a ranger class is not exactly uncommon in a Roguelike, is it? Although I did read somewhere that the dev plans to add more classes to the game later.
Yeah I'm sure much more is in the works but at the same time I think they were trying to not exactly follow the mold of Diablo as so many other action RPGs did by always having those same basic three archetypes.
Personally, I'm not worried a bit by the classes. The only thing I'm wondering is how it will play, and will the art style be something I will enjoy in a Roguelike. To me, things like a giant cartoon hammer and finger of a god poking down on enemies are things that I'm going to have to see in the larger context before I can decide whether this is a game for me or not. Regardless, I do appreciate what the dev is likely doing with that style.
Uh ya your right but they seem to be making their game a sorta hybrid rogue/rpg with multiple classes. If you watch the YouTube links then you'll see some ranged action with the Mage class. This screams archer addition! The fact that they're adding more classes later is one of the reasons for me to log in and add my 2cents right?
The two classes we're implementing as soon as we can after release are: "The Skellyman Scoundrel" - a female skeleton thief/rogue type class. Good with daggers & bows, highly mobile, low HP, undead, etc. Watch a (very old, but still mostly accurate conceptually) design tour of the Scoundrel here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh7XYQk1UQE "The Dinoman Bruiser" - a giant, hulking, feral beast. Huge on stats, no magical abilities except for one where he turns into a DINOSAUR for several turns. Essentially a barbarian-type character. There are other ideas kicking around, and we're accepting ideas from the community, but these are the two that are going in ASAP, for certain. Oh - and in terms of release date, we're shooting for April 29th right now, which actually is looking pretty doable.
Just read, it's said "There are other ideas kicking around, and we're accepting ideas from the community, but these are the two that are going in ASAP, for certain."... Really...
I've killed a small crow and am preparing to eat it. You'd be surprised how few recipes there are. On the bright side, whenever a say something stupid to a dev, I always guilt myself into buying their game.
Sounds good. Will the upcoming classes be added in as a free update or will they be dlc? (I'm obviously hoping they're a free update )
