Not really. You`ll still be translucent only. But when you pick up cloak you`ll be even more invisible. Not really worth spending credits IMO.
Server issues. They`ve added new servers. I think thats the reason behind this.

I always try n grab credits even if I dont have any energy. Cant let them kill me and grab all the credits too :D
