You're reading to much into it man. It makes for a good part of the story. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now that sounds like a great item. Considering crits are considerably stronger, this ups your damage an incredible amount.

I have yet to find a true max for heroes. At level 1000 you can evolve them. While they lose their skills the damage they change to is crazy high....
